Thanks again solidstate, I will definitely refer back to this thread when I am ready to shop for new speakers. These speakers also might interest you as again it's a waveguide high sensitivity design. gedlee.com/Dr. Gedlees plural has a new Summa called the NS15 and it's polar plot is as incredible as a synergy horn but as usual his/her pricing is OUT TO LUNCH. That's a loudspeaker I'd actually buy if only Earl and Lidia would sell it at a reasonable price. The BOM is at least 6x the asking price and I don't care what the front baffle mold cost to get made as each baffle wouldn't cost more than $100 bucks to make if not less. I'm certain that's one of the best loudspeakers on the planet but the asking price is bonkers at $6000 a speaker finished!!! An SH60/50 has a 4x BOM and yet costs less! Earl and Lidia would sell speakers like JTR and Seaton if only they'd stop with the ridiculous pricing. The look of the speakers will never allow it to be sold with the Boutique scammers no matter how good it is as it's UGLY!

Okay, one last thing...besides the whole breakdown of output, gain, loudness, power, ego and all that....
I see Emotiva explains on the product page that the XPA-2 can be used as a stepping stone and that adding a second XPA-2 later and using them both in bridged mode is the plan.
As posted here on the XPA-2 product page:
Monoblock Mode For the serious enthusiast, you have the choice of running the XPA-2 as a high-quality stereo amplifier, or a 1,000 watt monoblock. Just flip the switch to Monoblock Mode, and unleash stunning power and ultimate flexibility. This makes the XPA-2 Gen 2 a great upgrade path—start with a single stereo amp, and then add a second one later to experience the power and dynamic headroom of monoblocks!
Is it still a bad idea to go this route? Adding a second XPA-2 Gen 2 amp and running them bridged so that the headroom, gain, power resources etc are there...

IMHO , yep, still a bad idea. I enjoy the MONOBLOCKS more and there is no limit/requirement to keep it 8 ohs. I had this decision t make some time ago and choose not to proceed down that road. More options with speakers IMHO.

Cool, thanks Nick. I saw several posts in the past where others came to the same crossroads I am at now and chose to go with true monoblocks. I am going to look into some new speakers for my two channel and maybe try to pick up an XPA-5 amp for my theater.

If you go for the amps now you can get that 20% off when you become an e-club member. But there's only 4 days left,,,,, I have to make a decision as well!!,!
