Is anyone familure with JRivers enough to answer a couple of question? i prefer information from my friend and there forum is daunting IMHO. I'd like to save a year from hunting for a few answers.
1) how do you eliminate files from Media Center and start fresh? I've Deleted Libraries but it does not rid the files?,,,I think.
2) I keep ending up with a lot of albums that have each song on it twice, but not all of them!
HELP PLEASE

To delete the files:
First delete the library Second, go to the drive where the files are and delete them all Note that you'll now have to re-rip the entire bunch...
As to having two copies of each song - You need to determine whether there are actually two copies of the song in the directory that you're using for the JRiver library. If so, then delete one of the two copies & let JRiver recreate the library. If there's but one song file on your drive, then tell JRiver to delete one of the two "copies" of the song, but WITHOUT letting JRiver erase the file.
Clear as mud? LOL

If the duplicate is just a library entry and not a second file....right click on the song in any library view and click delete.

I think I know where I messed up. Before ripping I set it to genre / artist / album / track, this may have added the same LP twice. Thoughts?

Whatever you do...don't go deleting file unless you want to re-rip!!!
I have only ended up w/JRiver seeing duplicate files unless I ripped dups and had libraries looking to each Be careful what you delete.

You may have imported the playlist or cue file as well as the actual songs. I've done this sometimes and it results in duplicates.

Hey guys a few question hope I'm not getting off topic here too much, as the OP I feel a whole lot comfy posting here rather than on the Jriver site.
I've been ripping my CD so I can finally move the clutter out my tiny apt once and for all. Yaaay
How do I know where are they're being ripped, meaning what hard drive??
I have 16TB with flicks, a OS SSD drive, and a external drive with some tunes attache to my HTPC at the moment and I would hate to have to re-ripped the ones I already ripped if they end up in the SSD. (Not for music) The External HDD, has old tunes from my pass pc, and needs to be connect to listen to my older tunes even thou I have the cover art is generate via Jriver, which have been manually importing via (Drag & Drop)method. Is there a way I can add the in my HTPC's HDD, I have an empty 4K drive in there that I was going to use for some sort of Parity back up, but I could buy a new HD later.
How do you guys rip your Sound tracks, Compilations, multi artist type discs, is there a special way to do so? I was going to listen to some cool trance tunes but I have to find, and play every single track one at a time a major PITA. I know Itune does this as well, I would think this day and age the're would be a better way to do this.
Also early on I would be able to toss in the disc, and it would auto rip, now I have to do it manually, which tend to forget at times I walk away and find out that the disc is waiting on me to start ripping. I know it silly on my part, but it was doing it like I said, and it's just an inconvenient to do so.
I'm sure I have more questions, as I'm off for a few days and would like to finish this task and live the minimalist way!
Thank you in advance.
Dan

I have an Ipad, but the App at the Apple store cost 9.00 bucks and it was the only one I seen that had to do with Jriver, is that the one you're referring?? I have an Android home, and the Gizmo Jriver is free, I think, it's on my celly. Thanks Dan

Yes, I'm using the iPad JRivers Jremote from the Apple store and I find it great for kicking back in " The Big Chair " and playing my music! Of course this is when I'm too lazy to drop a needle and really enjoy all of the music, the Mrs loves both but she really has fun with the IPad and our digital library.

WOW I'm just mesmerized with this J-remote, it is simply a thing of beauty...
Can I use it to lower the volume, I guess I would have to set it up on the HTPC side?
Thanks for the heads up.

Of course there's a better way. I don't have jRiver in front of me at the moment, but look up something called "playlists" in the Help (that's what everybody calls them these days). Basically, instead of picking just one song, you can pick a whole bunch of songs and add them all onto one big list on the screen - and jRiver will play them in order. You can then save this list (they're called "playlists"); then, whenever you want to play the same songs, you just play that single playlist and jRiver plays everything on it for you. OK I figured out how to { How do you guys rip your Sound tracks, Compilations, multi artist type discs, is there a special way to do so? In general, if you only RIP the CD once, you're only going to end up with one PHYSICAL copy of the ripped songs - and any seeming duplications will be duplicate entries on the list pointing to the same song file. If this is the case, you should be able to delete the duplicate entries without affecting the files. (Although realize that the duplicate entries don't take up much space at all, so keep them if they make finding the files more convenient.) If you do have duplicate entries, and you plan to remove one of them, make sure you're removing the index entry and not the actual file (most programs will prompt you with something like "Are you sure?" before deleting the actual file). HOWEVER, if you RIP the same CD twice, depending on the settings, you might end up with real duplicate copies of the files. This is especially likely if you change settings mid-stream. (If you RIP the CD, and the songs get distributed according to your current settings, then you RIP it again, and the songs get put in new places because you changed the settings, odds are the program won't pick up on and avoid the duplication.) I think I know where I messed up. Before ripping I set it to genre / artist / album / track, this may have added the same LP twice. Thoughts?
