It looks like I may be purchasing a rpa-1. I've read nothing but great reviews on this amp! How does it compare to all the current models? I know the xpa2 is more power as is the xpa 200. I'm just curious as to owners experience with the rpa-1. Thanks!

To be honest, all high quality well made power amps sound more or less the same...

My awesome XPA-1L's still have 57 months of warranty left and have lost more value than these off warranty RPA amps, too bad they didn't put VU meters in them hahaha

When I see or hear about this amp, I always wonder what keeps Emotiva from putting meters on their current amps? The XPR line especially would benefit from meters IMO.

The RPA-1 can do 539 watts RMS @ 4 ohms @ 0.1% distortion with 1 channel driven. Since this amp is a dual mono design - I don't see why it couldn't do a very hefty output both channels driven. Limited probably by the power chord.

IMO EMO has come out with better amps but none head and shoulders above this one. The noise floor is so low it makes everything crystal clear and refined. I don't even care about the meters because my RPA-2 is in my rack in a closet. It's the SOUND. I bought mine secondhand at the full price of $700. At first I was miffed about paying full price, then the music started.....after listening, my conclusion is I STOLE this amp!!!!

I'm excited about the RPA-1. I am a sucker for vu meters and blue lights! If you look at my equipment profile I have two of the old 80's proton 1150's for surround duties. I replaced the lights with blue leds. They are toned way down so they aren't super bright. Regarding higher end amps all sounding the same, I've read that a lot. If you look at my profile I also have a proceed hpa2. I have had a multitude of different amps in and out for my L/R mains, too many brands to list. To me this proceed improves the imaging and soundstage by a large amount compared to any other I've had! I know its not my imagination. I'm really hoping this rpa-1 can compare.

If you like the Proceed amp, you'll love the RPA-1. This coming from an ex PA-5 owner.

Did they make black alternatives for the silver square pieces on the front?

Isn't a pa-5 a nakamichi? I meant the Proceed Amp 5 (i.e. PA-5).

Did they make black alternatives for the silver square pieces on the front? Those square pieces on the front are blocks of milled aluminum. They are beautiful. They look incredible in contrast to the wood piano black lacquer side panels. Please don't paint them.

Someone has some ebony ones for sale that look quite cool. Though I think that I'd go with cherry if i were going for wood.
