Would you be kind enough to expand on your comparison of the DC-1 vs ERC-3? are you running the ERC-3 through the DC-1? thanks. 8) That's right, I run the ERC-3 as a transport to the DC-1 via aes/ebu digital out in order to test the DC-1 against the ERC-3. Down the stream being Marantz 3200, Marantz 170DC and pair of Dali Ikon 6. I feel the DC-1 and ERC-3 sound ditto and almost in distinguishable. The ERC-3 on its own sounds perfect with no artifacts, sibilance which I get if I use the DC-1 to do the D/A. These artifacts though minor could be due to the aes/ebu cable I used, or different power cords and interconnects being used for ERC-3 and DC-1. I would have to interchange and report back my experience. Thanks so much, and yes! Please report back.

My adcom 5 disc player does it in about 1 second disks in. If the tray is open, it takes about 7 seconds.

^^^According to your video (and my stopwatch) looks like about 4 seconds from the time your door closes to the time 00:00 pops up on your display. I got and average of 5.75 on my stopwatch to the 1 second point. 00:00 is unreliable because sometimes players stick there a second before actually going. I would normally go off the sound of music but there isn't any in this video. But yes, see, these old Sony players are fast. Mine is almost identical to this one shown. 9 seconds is quick, but it's nearly twice as long as the Sony.

Forgot to mention this old Sony (as does mine, partially) also has front plate direct track access which is one of the best features CD players ever had. A spin wheel knob comes second. Having to hit an up down button comes in last.

But 5 seconds is about as fast as they come. 9 seconds on the ERC-3 is good, but it's not great. It's sort of like hi-speed internet. Once you get used to fast, there's no going back. My Denon sounds awesome but the load time sucks.

Helluva who claimed 1.5 precisely ??!! Helluva delta between 4 and 5.75 too, if you like stopwatches and your own science lab ways to deduce where to start and stop. Helluva whatever makes you glee cause I don't listen to my system with a white lab coat. When I mean takes little over 1.5 sec, it is perceived as zippy fast as I already mentioned. When I am done with loading the CD the player and step away is already ready to play. The player is READY when am READY, vice versa ERC-3 the player is NOT READY when I am READY. I am WAITING and WAITING, so those 9 secs feels eternity. Also the flimsy slow tray adds to the impression. Its the speed perceived. the ERC-3 also takes ages to turn on from standby. The SONY is like 0.5 secs, you want a video so you can have your stopwatch ready ? It can save you the $$ from going on and getting one for your experiment.

The response from Emotiva was prompt, courteous & informative. What did I learn? "The ERC-3 actually uses a DVD mechanism and has a rotational speed that is significantly higher than other CD transports that are on the market. In addition the ERC-3 transport is much more powerful and is able to read discs that are unreadable in other players. Obviously with all these benefits there are a couple of trade offs however the noise from the unit should be minimal unless if it is an off balance disc." Playing multiple discs, wondering if disc irregularity ("off balance") contributed to the noise, found that CDs had no bearing on the noise, they all played without noise on the other players. Perhaps shipping vibrations and jostles had effects– the double boxing is unscathed. I appreciate the information on the ERC-3 transport, the engineers no doubt have been very discerning in the design. Emotiva has authorized a refund, an exception from the warehouse sale policy. My dealings with Emotiva have been pleasant & efficient, I will be sorry to see the ERC-3 go.
Can this be done till now, a refund?

I did some more listening and for the test bed I kept the same belden power cord for both DC-1 and ERC-2, and same Van Damme RCA interconnect from both to the preamp. The difference is the the digital cables running from ERC-3 to DC-1. So again the ERC-3 sounds non-fatiguing, no sibilance, warm and full bodied. Running it as transport to DC-1 on AES/EBU input I get the artifacts and sibilance and loose the nice presentation brought out by ERC-3. Using the coaxial port I get no such artifacts, and sound is closer to ERC-3, but not 100% same. The DC-1 is running with ASRC-1 ON so that should take care of any jitters due to digital cables. There are many factors in play here, so I don't think it would be possible to 1 on 1 compare the both, you just need to get both and try them on your systems and your tastes. Almost similar but not quite the same. For me ERC-3 is outright winner on its own.

It's ok, no problems here; enjoy! Also, have you looked into getting that treated?

Thanks for acknowledging me that I took time to post the video to you, before you start to analyse and dissect using your scale. Oops you did not acknowledge. Never mind!
