But good to see it's available.

why go the route with 1 amp, I think a blade amp solution is a better option???
edit my mistake is that a heat sink or an amp on top of the blades???

Yep saw it in person too. 5RU definitely. Looks a winner for just about any multi channel solution you have, all in one chassis. Bi-amp or 5 channel main zone and 2 channel zone 2. A winner for all! I like it!

The specs say that it's 7 3/4" high, that makes it the same Hight as a XPA-5, 4U XPR-1 is 9 1/2" high

Not to bash on it, but I think at that price I would be inclined to purchase an XPA-5 and an XPA-2 vs. the XPA-7. The only thing that would sway my decision would be if space was an issue.
That is one beefy monster though!

Is it me or does the price for the XPA-7 seem slightly out of wack when compared to the XPA-5?
My logic is as follows: XPA-3 = $799 XPA-5 = $999 XPA-7 = should be $1199
At the $1599 requested price, I am more tempted by 2 x XPA-5 (so I can power my passive subs).
my 2 cents...

I think it's actually more a slightly tuned down XPR-7. It weighs 2 lbs more than the XPR-5. Emotiva always claimed that a XPA-7 would be impossible to do starting from the XPA-5. But starting from the XPR-7 and a bit of cost-cutting...
If you look at it that way, this XPA-7 is not so expensive. If you can buy it.

For what Emo is asking for the XPA-7, and it is not an outrageous sum, I think I would be inclined to go with Crown XLS amps instead. And there is NO problem shipping those lightweights beasts anywhere in the world. The Crown XLS1500s can be found on Amazon for $325 ea. with free shipping. 4 of those would set you back $1300 and give you 8 channels of 300 watts/ch. (8 ohms, 525 at 4 ohms) amplification for $1300 versus $1600 for the Emo which has 215 (8 ohm, 300 watts at 4 ohm) watts/ch...

XPA-7 is really for people with real estate problem. For the price I would prefer XPA-5 + 2 XPA-100 IMHO.

I think that's the first transformer of its size on the xpa-7 that emo has used on their models.

Uffff indeed. I must be missing something but I don't get how adding 2 channels makes it $600 more.

Uffff indeed. I must be missing something but I don't get how adding 2 channels makes it $600 more. It's the bigger power supply, larger chassis, greater weight, and higher shipping cost (still higher than expected). What also makes it attractive (besides using the least amount of rack space) is that it competes well power wise with an XPA-5 and (2) XPA-1's. That is, when using it for HT you get 200W all the way around, but when listening to 2 channel you get 520W to your Fronts. No big Class A like the 1's, but still a compelling amp for double duty.

Many of the amps have prices that reflect the increased component cost. Each amp gets heavier, bigger transformer, etc. It is a huge amp. I think it's the freight shipping that screws up the typical curve. I could see $400 bump. Beyond that? That's gotta be freight. It's the freight shipping that makes the XPRs as expensive as they are now. That being said - the specs look nice and clean! I still want to see the XPR-7 come to market.
