Umm Lets see, Maybe because with the XMC-1 it can be used for Home theater yet have excellent two channel audio. Even with my current Denon I'm using for a processor I've heard significant differences in various amps regarding two channel audio and BluRay concerts of good quality. I've never heard a Class D amp that sounds as good as a good Class A/B amp. I plan to use my system for both two channel and Home theater. Also, High Quality Bluray Concerts definitely benefit from an amp that is "Musical". There are many many many individuals that unlike yourself have heard a Class D and preferred it over the Class A/B amps. Hence, very subjectively, there are Class D amps that are more "Musical" than Class A/B amps. It is definitely subjective. Class D amps have came a long way in the last 5 years. They were great on subs but very fatiguing to the ears running full range for a long time. I have read several favorable reviews as of late. The light weight is definitely a plus. As for the other part of your question, a great two channel( or high quality multi channel) amp is hugely important if your home theater setup is also used for 2 channel critical listening. Musical to me means great imaging and a wide soundtage without sounding mechanical. Now I know somebody is going to chime in and say all good quality amps sound the same. I'm sorry, but I've been listening to high end audio for over 30 years, and I have never bought into that philosophy. I have the XMC on the way because of it supposed outstanding two channel performance.

I am a bit surprised that they did not bring the Sherbourn PA 350 back out with Emotiva rapping's, It is one of the better sounding amps I have used and I use 4 channels to bi amp my B&W 804s speakers for music. I think when it was full price it only sold for 2995$ which for an amp that puts out 350 Watts per channel all channels driven (which seldom happens)into 8 ohms was a great deal.

What news? No XPR-7 is announced. Yet. But you can't get one when it will be released, so no worries! (Sorry, cheap shot... I know. I'm sorry!) I can get one easy if I pay double the shipping cost via a reshipper . I might pick up a Sherbourn 7-350 sooner or later that way though. Same price now as the XPA-7. So there are ways. I just don't like the way Emotiva is handling the bloody shipping issue. Add the way the EU branch was announced first, then axed and it's getting a bit hohum. The only trouble with the packaging is that it's not as good as it could be. The cheapo cardboard will work for the lighter items because of the double box, but for heavy stuff, they need better cardboard. Why not put the double box in a third box made out of decent sturdy water resistant cardboard? Why not use foam pads at each corner instead of polystyrene strips? How hard can it be... Tower speakers can be just as heavy and these are also shipped everywhere.

TO bad I did not get one more Sherbourn 7 350 when the price dropped below 1000$ It is a real good sounding amp runs cool , just plain good all around amp. Have to keep a look out on Ebay or craig list. Seems like people did not like the different look of the sherbourn next to the Emotive amps. I really do not care what it looks like as long as it does the job.

The XPA-7 has a price point the same as the now retired MPS-1. So, as usual anyone complaining about the price has no plans to buy one anyway. This applies to audio, cars, houses or even clothes. Don't take peoples economic choices personally and get into a tit-for-tat about the cost. Accept the fact that some folks would NEVER eat at The Four Seasons or pay more than ten bucks for a dozen golfballs.
