I own a Sherbourn 5/1500A amplifier. When I first start it up 2 or 3 channels will be off, or playing very quietly. After warming up for about 15 minutes it works fine. Turns out I've got some bad caps. On the caps it says 10,000 microfarads, 80 volts and +105 degrees C. I also understand that they're low ESR caps. I could not find any part number though. Does anyone have a parts list for this amp or any educated guess for finding a comparable cap?

I would give Emotiva a call and see if tech support can give you the information you need.

Thanks. They gave me a quote on the caps as part of , the amp being repaired by them. With shipping it was going to run about $450. I didn't think it was a wise idea to spend that much on an amp this old so I figured I would try it myself. I wasn't sure whether they would sell me the parts. I'll call on Monday.

That sounds awefully high for caps and shipping. Are you sure they weren't quoting you a replacement price on a an amp?! See if you can get them sent to you and just get a local shop to solder them.

That price was part of a quote for them to perform the service; $125 for the caps (10), $150 labor. I added in round trip shipping & the total climbed above $400. For $300+ more I can buy a new XPA-5. So I removed the caps this weekend and will try to find replacement caps & install them myself. BTW, $12.50 a cap does not sound out of line with what I found over the weekend for a cap of this size.
