Joined the e-club and got a great deal IMO.
1 x XPA-3 - $679 SKU: XPA-3 3 x X RCA - $51.27 ($17.09 each) SKU: XRCA-1
All for $650
Setup with be a Denon 4520 and Klipsch Ref II speakers. Also have two Hsu subs. I did have an amp at an earlier point, this one just has more power. Not that I need it, but I like the idea of headroom because we watch movies very loud.

That XPA 3 has some serious power. Enjoy!

The denon is rated at its power different than the xpa3. I think you might notice more than just the difference in headroom imho.

Yeah, I know as you add channels the AVR watts can drop off, plus they general have lower capacitance and smaller transformers. Movies here are generally run around 0.0 to -2.0 db on the AVR volume, so we push it.

I've heard the xpa-3 vs the denon avr-4311 and the difference was eye opening for me. I've run seperates for years and was always fond of denon and Marantz for their digital processing. Amplification is another animal. Their bench specs with all channels driven (denon) start clipping around 30 watts.

Im not gonna get on a rant about cables but I will recommend a solid 12 or even 9 awg speaker cable. The amp has lots of power and you want the copper to provide adequate conductivity to your speakers.

I've got the 12 gauge blue jeans cable cables made to the lengths I needed, with ultra sonically welded banana plugs. Been real nice. I know gauge matters a lot for length of runs too. My longest cable is 12 feet.

XPA-3 should include a mono trigger cable.

Up and running, hope to watch some flicks tomorrow. 4520ci as preamp and XPA-3 amp. I notice my 4520ci denon has preamp voltage of 1.2v and the emotiva XPA-3 has an Input Sensitivity (for rated power; 8-ohm load): 1.1 V load. I assume this is fine?

Really nice looking set up! The voltage output preamp on denon will mate well with the XPA-3. A dedicated preamp might have a higher output voltage and might offer a better dynamic range or whAt you may perceive as sounding fuller.
Either way the denon will work very well and won't damage anything mated with the XPA-3. Enjoy the amp!
