Well, if you want streaming, then that's a plus.... But, for that price, you could buy a DC-1, and a Flex Amp...... and another DC-1..... and another Flex Amp...... and another spare DC-1..... and another Flex Amp..... just in case. And the Flex Amp is about twice the power..... $2500 seems kind of "up there" for a 30 WPC desktop system to me..... Keith, I got mine a dealer demo at much less that $2500. Before I went that route i tried: XDA-1, usp-1, upa-200, Rega DAC, NAD c340, squeezebox, squeezebox touch, dedicated PC, musical Fidelity u-link, Meridian Explorer, Sherbourn PA2-50... I welcome and encourage Emotiva to do it better/ cheaper than the Naim. The one device replaces: FM Tuner ($250) Squeezebox Touch ($300) Linear PSU ($250) DC-1 ($500) Flex Amp ($220) Digital interconnect (or USB cable) (2) Pair of Analog Interconnect So let's call it $1600 vs $2400. So about a $800 delta purchased through a audio dealer for a product made in England. It is a simple elegant solution that sounds great. I will not debate the sonic attributes of the naim here vs the Emotiva system. Simply said they have different design goals and I happen to really enjoy the particular coloration the Naim brings to the table. 30 watts doesn't sound like much, but in theory it is 30W designed like the SA-250, with significant transient ability. I has stated previously here that I really like my PA2-50 and feel that anyone looking at the mini-x should just get the flex amp. Again, I wish that Emotiva made my decision difficult. Come out with a similar product and I'll happily try it. Why would I want 5 components when 1 does it so well?

Looked at the D 7050 with the 2 x 50W but that is rated at 4 ohms and it has no analog inputs. I know how you feel about that Chuck but an analog input is a must for my needs. The D 3020 has two analog inputs along with a USB, Optical and Coaxial input but the 2 X 30w is not enough for my needs.

Our new little Flex Amp gives you a volume control and two inputs - but they're both analog. However, there are plenty of choices around in small USB-powered DACs which could be used to connect a digital source to one of those inputs. And you just might be seeing a few small DACs from us sometime soon (don't even ask for details yet) . (But a show of interest couldn't hurt ) Isn't the DC-1 a small DAC? It's not the size of the DAC that matters but the way it makes the speakers move back and forth.

Current small two channel desktop system. This is temporary until I sort something else out. The Sony Walkman to DC-1 to Mini-X allows me to have music with my small speakers without my PC on and I will soon have a Bottlehead Crack headphone amp connected to the DC-1 for use with Sennheiser hd 600's. Using my Sony Walkman as a source I can move the DC-1 and Bottlehead Crack headphone amp to other locations like my bedroom and not be tied to a PC and have amazing sound. !

If I might be so bold as to suggest a correction, you left off the speakers, cables and the sources so it's actually a lot more than 1 component. I can do it with an iPhone, an MSR-1 interconnect and a pair of Airmotives or Stealths, total 4 components. Or for super sound quality just add a DC-1 to the iPhone and the Airmotives/Stealths. If I really wanted a minimalist English solution then a KEF X300A can do it all for half the price of the NAIM, just plug the iPhone digital output straight in. Happy New year Gary

Gary,
I'm a bit confused by your post. Sorry I'm on brain shutdown and a bit under the weather.
I guess my point was a Qute , speaker Cables, thumb drive and a pair of speakers makes a great system. Pricey.. Yes, especially at full retail. I got mine for under $1k, which makes it much easier to stomach.
A DC-1 with mini-x looks like a fantastic little system also. I'm doing some work in my basement and setup my PA2-50 ( fusion Flex), a Rega DAC, Squeezebox, which is another good small system.

My system is an iPhone, a cable and a pair of Airmotive 4's. Sounds great, very simple and even after adding a UCA202 DAC still under $400.
Happy New Year Gary

DJ I am using my Sony NWZ-A17 Walkman with my Stealth DC-1. I have yet to see anyone online say they are using a Portable Music Player with a DC-1. I am seriously thinking of getting the smaller Airmotiv 4s for a small system that can be portable. Digital out of that Sony with FLAC files into the DC-1 sounds awesome !

That'd be hella convenient for picking up and jamming on the fly. That would be as close to highest quality portables as one could get I would think. DJ
