Digital volume control was a problem with the XDA-1 - the XDA-2 uses an analog volume control.

That is correct. The XDA-2 uses an analog resistor ladder on a chip solution. It is supposed to be have an accurate left to right balance superior to that of a regular analog potentiometer. So there is technically no lossy attenuation happening. It does have a bit of an issue though being that using the XDA-2 remote, it takes a very long time to turn it from loud to quiet. Think like 40 seconds long! The DC-1 does not have this issue - it's more like three seconds!

The noise(probly transformer hum) that i was talking about before is coming from XDA 2. I did bit of unplugging and plugging of connections and concluded that XDA 2 indeed is producing audible hum even when its connected to power cable only. Hum is quite audible. I compared to my Yamaha receiver which is almost silent. did i get a lemon?
