Congrats on your new additions. My wife seriously wants to block my access to the site. She keeps on me as to where all this new stuff is going...I have three rooms where I have a complete Sherbourn surround set up plus an Emotiva two channel off to the side. Overkill?....I think not! I know that feeling. Currently have 4 systems in the house which includes my main system downstairs where all the new stuff goes. UPS is about to deliver 2 UPA-1's to me shortly, plus I'm looking at buying at least 1 pair of speakers this weekend. Not sure why as I already have 3 good pairs of extra speakers laying around and at least 1 decent pair of speakers kicking around somewhere haha. This really is a sickness.

No, I'm bi-amping with two XPR-1s on the bottom and two Carver 350's on top. Sonic bliss...... I'm just a little taken back at the moment, are you absolutely positive you will have sufficient power on tap, I worried that your system is gonna suffer with such wimpy amplification Well I have driven this system hard enough that the XPA-1s went into protect on a couple occasions. I'm guessing that won't be a problem with the XPR's.

If your XPR-1s get sucked dry,,,,,,,I'm on a plane to see it!!!! Honestly, I doubt the XPA-1's we're "sucked dry". I never saw them go into the red, but they were blue all the way across the glass! My guess is the subs (4 ohm nominal) are dropping to fairly low impedance at some frequency point and at uber high volume the XPA-1's we're complaining. No big deal really. I definitely could have lived with LOVED the XPA's forever. We're talking REALLY high volume here, but heck with it, I've been wanting some XPR's since they were released. I was expecting a tracking number from Emotiva today, never got one

Words just can't do them justice, but in all fairness I've never heard an XPA-1 amp. I so want a XPR-5 but can't see dropping that much coin just for her looks and to match my MONOBLOCKS!!! it would be beyond having a luxury. 8) But! But! But!!! I must resist the power of the R series!!!

"I've seen the XPA-1 clip but man, I couldn't clip the XPR-1!". At 4 ohms, 1700 watts!, I think you are safe . Maybe when I need 9 channels, I'll pop for the XPR-1s. I can't now bc the wife put a stop to any further audio purchase in 2015 .

Obviously, I know the difference between the XPR-2 & XPR-5.

I've heard , but not experienced, that the R-2 is a little laid back, The R-1 is anything but laid back. Dominant, controlling, powerful, these are the words I'd use to describe the XPR-1s.

My buddy has 3 XPR-1s across his front speakers. The XPR-1 does also sound a little laid back. No loss of control but it's not as forward as the XPA (used to have a XPA-5 and currently have a XPA-2 gen2.
