I tried ordering a Fusion late Friday afternoon thru the secret sale and was told they are sold out. Please let me know if this has changed.

Just called about the factory reconditioned 8100 in the secret sale. They're out. Bummer. Oh well, spending the extra $90 for the new one gives me the peace of mind knowing that if it has hookup issues with any equipment I can always return it within 30 days. This is no small issue for us that are married. Plus, March 1 is my birthday. I can call it a birthday present. Happy birthday to me!

I went to NAD's own website and I had a hard time even finding specs on power. That usually is an indicator. Meanwhile the fusion is pretty proud to talk about its power Finally found it: the nad is 80 watts 2 channels driven. The fusion on the other hand does all channels driven. So it has more power.

Just a quick plug for the Fusion. I received a refurb DC-1 yesterday. I am using the Fusion's analog section as the preamp. I can say my system has never sounded better. Ever. That includes using an USP-1 as a preamp. BTW, I have no HDMI handshake or drop out issues and I am using 3 of the for HDMI inputs. Also the ARC works like it should, once I figured out how to use it. The room correction also has a great effect in my untreated room. Bottom line, at the price these can be had for even new, it is a great bargain. Pull the trigger.

Oh, I've decided I'm going with the Fusion. Just waiting for the end of the month.

Another question on the Fusion 8100. I have an older Yamaha CD player (cdc 505) and wanted to know if I would be better off using rca outputs and letting the Yamaha handle the DAC, or use an optical output and let the Fusion handle the DAC?

By the way, it will only be for a few months. I'm going to save up and get an Oppo 103 or the Denon DBT1713UD Universal disc player. Although I've heard the Pioneer Elite BDP-80FD is pretty good too.

Try both and see which you prefer since you have that luxury. However, if want to use a subwoofer when playing CDs, I'd suggest running optical from the Yamaha and letting the Fusion handle processing and bass management. Otherwise, the signal will undergo an unnecessary A-to-D and then D-to-A conversion.

I had both the RCA stereo and the coax digital going into the AVR. I could do an immediate A/B comparison playing the same track. They definitely sounded different.
