Dang I can barely wait. The larger OSD and no more ticks when a song changes is all I ask for. Just one other question , what about atmos - wait a second who cares. Funny enough I was over at my buddies place the other day and on his Anthem he gets the very same ticks and clicks when you change songs or skip scenes in movies... So this has to be somewhere in the signal processing.. Now this is such good news Dan, Can't wait to give you guys some more money for an upgraded Dirac.

Not to get away from the subject, but any news Mr. Laufman on the new speakers line ? we've been teased enough I believe. I've been holding on buying new speakers waiting for some announcement from you.

"It should be noted that we are hard at work on a new upgraded HDMI board, and it will provide full HDMI 2.0 support with HDCP 2.2 compliance. Rest assured, it will be available well before any compliant source component hits the market!"
Anyone have any idea how difficult this may be? If it requires anything more than removing screws and cables, then I am afraid I would have to get some help. Just hope I would not have to send it back to have it upgraded.
Thanks,
Steve

There used to be a lot of pictures of the innards of the XMC-1 at XMC-1.com, but that re-directs to the Emotiva website now.
As I recall the insides looked very much like there were daughter boards, much like some PCs, that could have their cables disconnected, be unscrewed, and be replaced; in essence I recall a modular appearance.

Thanks, Steve The most important part should you require this upgrade is to have a antistatic wrist strap. The rest will be a few screws and small plugs . Use your video camera when disassembling if you have trouble remembering things under pressure. I didn't know how to build a computer until I built one and have built 10 plus over the years. The XMC-1 was built to be upgradeable so I suspect they built it using the KISS method. Richard

Let me answer a couple of questions...
1. The HDMI upgrade can be done in your home. It involves removing the top cover and unscrewing the HDMI board and unplugging a couple of connectors. The new board fits in the exact same way as the old board. You'll screw in the new board, plug in the connectors (which can only go in one way!) and re-flash the unit with the new firmware that will be included with the board on a USB drive or as a download. You're done. Then you can wait for someone to make a real 4k player! Ha!!
2. The are several new processors in development right now. I'd spoken about this at CES, so its not a secret. We have a 16 channel Atmos enabled unit in development and it will be the new XMR-1. It will have a new T.I. 800 Series six core processing engine with enough power to handle Atmos, DTS-X, and whatever else is thrown at us. It is completely balanced on ALL channels and will go head to head with ANY processor on the market today, or tomorrow. It goes without saying it will ship with Dirac Live for Emotiva on all channels, and soon after release, we will be able to offer Dirac Unison. If you haven't heard of it yet, search it on Dirac's site. The new XMR-1 is going to be a monster. Made in Franklin, TN USA
3. There is a "baby" 7.1 processor in final development. It has some very cool features that I'm not ready to speak about just now, but it'll be a sweetheart. I predict this one will be a huge success. As a teaser though, it uses a smaller version of the OLED used in the XMC-1 and you have to see it to believe it. Same exact look and resolution, but smaller. It's going to have some very unique and useful features. We have fully functional hardware running on this unit, so its launch is not that far off. Made in Franklin, TN USA
3. Speakers are well into development. I'll admit we've had some false starts and stops on this program. However, we are on track now with a new line that is going to be really special and reflect the values and thinking of our company. We've got a great new look that says "Emotiva" and the quality of the European made drive units is stunning. And yes, they will be very affordable.
4. You're going to be seeing a lot of new things on the site very soon along with some exciting announcements in the next 30 to 60 days. This is going to be great year for all of you, and the company.
Cheers, Big Dan

Thanks Big Dan! I finally got my component rack fixed and upright and in the process of setting up the XMC-1. It is a brilliant machine and though quite intuitive I have found it slightly confusing for my elderly brain in places like the ARC/CEC which has me stumped so far. The good news is I have all components connected. Set menu items and the initial speaker/sub levels (I'll do the Para-EQ later as my 5 Emo Reference speakers are quite flat in my room and maybe Dirac down the road). So far SACD (PCM better than bass shy DSD), DVD-Audio, 2-ch CD's thru Dolby PLIIx (better than 2 ch direct to my ears for most sources) Blu-Ray with Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master all sound absolutely superb! I have lots of work and tweaking still to do but so far even with several small bugs and suggestions I'm one very happy camper! No need here for Atmos, new speakers, super Dirac, etc. I'm set for life! PS: Well, I would like to have an Emotiva clock!

Although I'm set for now with equipment (ha! yeah right), I'm absolutely thrilled to read this update. Gonna make some more happy customers. I'm glad to come along for the ride and look forward to learning about all the new products.

Sounds like it will be an interesting year Dan, thank you for the updates. I am excited to see the latest speaker line.
Also, since you are frequenting this thread....any chance you can let us into your mind on any upcoming receiver in the works? Maybe a more powerful sibling to the Fusion 8100? I love my Sherbourn SR-120 receivers and would be excited to see what is on the horizon.
Okay, I know I am getting on your nerves now.....but.......any chance we get an idea on what will be replacing the UPA line of amps.....
Thank you in advance, I am sure you are a busy man and I (all of us) appreciate you taking the time to personally chat with us. One of these years I will convince my wife and kids to trek down to TN for Emofest so I can meet you all in person!

Just curious, will the "cool" features from the "baby" reach the XMC-1?

More like a UMC-200 replacement. I am looking forward to more details - and please give us more PEQ bands for the subwoofer(s)!
