You need another to balance it out..
Looks good though, that color is a lot nicer in room.

I love it. It looks great, Chad! I think you are going to enjoy your new 18". Always get the best bass you can afford. It does add so much to a system. And I agree with Ivor, you do need another to balance it out. (You can never have too much bass!)

These look really great. I may consider a pair as replacements for my NHT 1259s in my HT.
I'll be following through power up and tuning.....

I very much like your Subwoofer. It is getting harder in our world of let someone else build it, I want it now place. Craftsmanship, and the pride that goes with what is yours is as special as it gets. Nice work, can't wait to hear your impressions, and everything.

People think that because a system can hit extreme spl levels that the guys that own them are idiots and listen at those levels ALL THE TIME when in actuality these are the guys who've probably spent the most time balancing and matching and setting up their systems....

"People think that because a system can hit extreme spl levels that the guys that own them are idiots and listen at those levels ALL THE TIME when in actuality these are the guys who've probably spent the most time balancing and matching and setting up their systems...." And, just like with "safe sex" you are protecting your hearing in the process, right?? All kidding aside, I'll bet that many, if not most, of you "bassheads" are being cautious to not damage your hearing in the process of integrating outrageous bass drivers into your systems. Right Ivor? I've never experienced bass at those dB levels, so can only imagine that one would go deaf quickly if listening for extended periods at those levels......

That's the halo effect working it's magic. I like to call it the "a few people ruin it for everybody" effect. There are some idiots out there running massive bass heavy setups and they're very vocal about it in forums boasting etc. Sort of the hillbillys of the audio world if you will. So if a normal guy comes along who just likes bass and has a bunch of big subs people will usually throw him into the same category.

Well how do you know the system can hit 138db like he stated if you do not test it at those level? In addition you do not need to listen at 138dbs for too long or all the time to cause permanent hearing loss. A gun shot can cause permanent damage and it is 140db and if you ask me 138bds is not that far away from 140db. Just saying....

I guess my thoughts are if someone wants to blow their eardrums out or not that's completely up to them and I'm not gonna throw any direction their way and what to do or not to, completely up to the individual, I'd rather not see people damaging their hearing but I'm not their parent either Back to the subject at hand, I will be picking up the driver tonight and hopefully have some time to get it installed and at least powered up and get yelled at One last thing, spring is here and the women are looking good, can I get a high five anyone what a wonderful time of year...
