Fine room Taz, fine room. Trey Thanks dtrey3, it was a year in the making and 8 yrs of saving enough cash to do it. It's been recently repaired as I had a dishwasher pipe go and flooded the room. Lucky all my equipment escaped without damage except my old projector.

Lucky all my equipment escaped without damage except my old projector. It is a beautiful room, well done. Though looking at it I'm surprised the projector was the only thing damaged, it seems like it's the best situated to withstand a flood. I'm guessing it wasn't mounted at the time?

Yes it was and the dishwasher is directly over my front speakers. But the water went accross the ceiling over where the projector is mounted. The speakers didn't even get wet. There was 3" of water over the whole basment by the time it got home. I took me 5 months to put it all back together. Now it's time to do some upgrades and enjoy it again

Ok guys I've narrowed it down to either 2 XPA 1's and an XPA 5 or 7 XPA 1L's. Just wondering if you guys think it's overkill for my fronts with the XPA 1's. Also would the XPA 1's sound better than the 1Ls?
My fronts are mirage om 10's rated at 30-200 watts
Thanks

You never have too much headroom. The XPA-1s will do great things for your sound.
I envy you...

I have heard my system using a Parasound HCA-750A. They are voiced differently from the Emotiva's or even Yamaha amps. They seem to pull off a large musical soundstage with less detail. Interestingly instrument separation was more pronounced but the noise floor was higher.
The XPA-1's have more guts and authority than the -1Ls but should have equal finesse. A pair of XPA-1Ls with An XPA5 would be wonderful for your system. Using XPA-1's would be truly impressive.

If it's strictly for HT use then I'd go for the XPA-7, so much power in reserve, huge power supply, all in one box. If you ever decide you want to go Atmos, Auro or DTS-X then just add another XPA-7 for 14 channels of flexibility. If it's for a mixture of stereo music and HT then I can't go past my set up which is a pair of XPA-1L's and an XPA-5. The big advantage of a pair of monoblocks is the ability to locate them right beside their speaker, making for very short speaker cables.
Cheers Gary

Thanks for the input everyone, I know it would be best if I place the mono blocks close to my speakers but that would mean a 50ft XLR to make that happen. Do you think there is any issue with that length of cable? Is the gain in sound going to be that much better in doing so?
Thanks

Thanks There should be no problem running a 50' XLR cable (that's certainly where they are beneficial), I'd say it's preferable to 30' of speaker cable.
