Hey no vis, did you Guys hard an intermittent mute-volume cycle with your Xmc-1 which i cured by switching off the hdmi cec fonction.... Also looks like the trigger voltage doesn't jive with my Upa -500 and Upa-700 amis. Gracefully Emotiva is sending me a trigger box to cure this.. Man what good service! Mel

Hi all, need a little help. Ive decided to do my Phono A/B before Dirac, it won't kill me to wait and hear it.,,,,,, . Now, how can I turn off any and all subs connected to my XMC so I can compare apples to apples?? the XSP-1 has NO subs connected to it and I feel it would take too long to mess with them, unless someone just has to know, but my speakers have plenty of bass,,,,,if it's there. so far the XMC is fuller in sound but it's running subs. A little help please.

Well my friends, "The One" is installed!! And now on to Dirac Full. The duel subs for sale are pictured to the left and behind my Studio 100s. Im really having a hard time even thinking about selling them. They Do fill in nicely with the other 3 subs.

I can't seem to be able to tell the difference between the two. Which is a great problem to have. Both imagine perfectly, nice wide stage with depth. Track I'm listening to right now, live in Paris, DK. Bass has center stage and piano off to the right. Drum comes in and it's center and left slightly. OH, I'm listening to the XSP-1 right now!!!. Stage and music FEEL LIVE!

And now with the Sherbourn CD-1. and the winner is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I'm really starting to believe with certainty that the XMC-1 is the XSP-1 plus a processor!! does anyone else have these findings ? Or am I alone? Has anyone else taken the time to do these A/B s??? Shirley, I'm not crazy,,,,,,Hey ,,,,, wait a second!!! Don't call me Shirley!!!!,,,,he,,,,,he,,,,he,,,,, So,,,,,do I prefer the processing of my Yamaha or the Emotiva,,, ? Dirac may have something to add to this equation. they are two very different processors and the price point is about the same ( what I paid ) plus Dirac Full. one supports 7.2 channels and the other 11.2 ( 7.2 plus two front hights and two rear hights. ) At this point,,,,sell it all and start over when the RMC-1 comes to life? ? NOT!!! I could go that long without my music. Or should I sell everything and keep only the XMC-1 and Paradigm and of course the PSA subs. Now this is very tempting I assure you,,,,,,oh yeh, sources will be kept as well, I have to play media some how!!! yes, rambling thoughts since no one else has any or is not posting any at this moment. Any feed back would be apriciated!!!,,,,,Shoot, I'll take reasonable offers on anything I own, there's a boat load not ever mentioned, let me know what your looking for!! Time me to look at Dirac!!!

I'm really starting to believe with certainty that the XMC-1 is the XSP-1 plus a processor!! does anyone else have these findings ? Or am I alone? Has anyone else taken the time to do these A/B s??? Okay Nick, are you referring to the XSP-1 Gen 1 or Gen 2, or does it matter? In other words, did you come to a firm conclusion that the XSP- 1 Gen 2 sounded noticeably different from (or to be precise: "better than") the gen 1, and if so, in what way? Also, when you say the XMC-1 = XSP-1 plus processor, aren't you leaving out something, namely, the Stealth DC-1? Where do the DACs on the XMC-1 fit in your comparison? I have my XMC-1 still sitting and staring at me boxed up and unopened, because I am still trying to make some time to set it up within my rig and put it through its paces... I shall also need to compare the 2-channel performance of the XMC-1, with that of the DC-1 + XSP-1 combo, just like you have done. My XSP-1 is however a gen 1, and that is why I am asking the above question, as a way of providing even more context for the comparisons I shall make. Any input or insight you can provide would be appreciated. Thanks.

sahmen, hello and you have valid questions. It's been some time since I've owned the gen 1 XSP-1, according to my recollection, the gen 2 did sound better in details in the higher notes.
I didn't use an external dac when I used the CD player and a TT doesn't need a dac.so at this point I can't comments on the DC-1 compared to the XMC. I emagine it's very much similar to the XMC.
I do find the XMC and the XSP & DC-1 have similar sound and they all sound known to me. Not a new sound that I recollect. If you want/need a processor and like/love the sound of the XSP/DC-1 then the XMC is you choice, if you have a processor you like, stay with the XSP & DC-1 combo.
This is what I feel at this moment. All that said, i haven't done anything with DIRAC. I may get to it tonight. I may just set up a two channel in the other room and then I'd only need the combo and not the processor.
I hope I've shed some lite on your question..

well the XMC doesn't have a phono input so there you go...
I too did an A/B comparison this weekend between XSP and XMC in reference stereo mode and now the XSP is unplugged ;o)
I had more dynamics and more bass with the XMC (and I don't have subs so no cheating here)
That may be down to my source, the PS Audio dac, that has a passive output... so with the XSP that made two passive outputs in line, maybe not a good idea...

I'd like to restate that in my comparison I used the XPS-1 connected to the XMC. ALSO, I THINK WE ALL HAVE TO COSIDER THE ROOM RESPONSE, dang caps, when comparing gear to each other. Also we need to state if your observations of the sound is pre or post Dirac.

Remember the XMC has a lot more potential for electronics induced noise and its still producing the same, according to you, SQ as the XSP. Now when you incorporate DIRAC we'll see how your opinion sways
