love my RF-7s, I think my next speakers will be the RF-7 III Seems like you'll have your 7's for some time! The RF-7 III just came out and are "Bad Arss, can I say that?" I really like the looks of the RF-7III. The Cherry finish is quite stunning, and these may just find a home here in my living room!

Dont you think so?

Yes the Klipschs replaced my Infinity IL60 for about 10 years now. I haven't found any speakers I like enough to replace them. I did tried some Deftechs and Magnepan that I liked but those had to be place so far into the room to sound good. I love the new looks of the RF-7III. I might try the new Emotiva speakers (T2) just hoping they look better in person. I disslike black speakers, maybe it can be painted like the Tekton brand.

Im just streaming from my Mac installed Tidal account. USB out to my DC-1 and then to preamp to amp. No decoder but the software in Tidal, with the proper settings. The Dc-1 is reading 96 khz and there is a difference in most MQA music. I was just reading about some of the new hardware providers and was curious if you had tried any out. If you looking for an inexpensive MQA DAC, Meridian Explorer2 (USB) can be had for around $200. Tidal is doing the MQA conversions inside their streaming software and will deliver full MQA (whatever the music is mastered in) to MQA capable DACs or up to 96/24 for non MQA DACs. Some settings have to be made in the Tidal desktop program. At this date, it's limited to the newly released Tidal Desktop software PC & MAC.

Hi @emovac -
After the Explorer 2, what's the NEXT least expensive MQA DAC? The only reason I'm not gung-ho for the Explorer is that I don't have USB available in my living room.

Boomzilla - Not sure what's out there. I was looking at the Mytek Brooklyn, but that's $2K. I bought an Explorer 2 and it's a nice little DAC, but USB only. If you are using Tidal Hi-Fi, you can still get the Master releases on your current DAC at 24/96. "IF" MQA takes off, I believe several manufacturers will bring out MQA capable DACs at varying price points. I'm a regular Roon user, and am eagerly awaiting the MQA adaption for Roon. Personally, IMO, the best stategy is wait and see.

I'd like to know the answer to that question as well. TIDAL's announcement and all these MQA articles have grabbed my interest. I just returned my recently purchased SONOS Connect to BB and am looking forward to taking MQA for a test drive.

Please write a review on the new RF 7 if you decide to get them. I'd take a look over toward the Bluesound players. MQA capable.. They are going to be Roon certified as well Boomzillajamco

Ive been playing LZ I Tidal Masters MQA through the Schiit GUNGNIR via USB from my Mac Mini and ending up at the McIntosh C220 and finally the BL ST-120. Ive been doing a direct comparison of the Klipsch RB 61 II to the KEF LS50! I am using the assistance of a pair of Klipsch 308's which have one active and two passive 8" woofers. 350 watts is plenty for how they produce together. Very fast and clean delievery. Drumroll please!! Klipsch are easy to drive and have that distinct horn sound. Accurate clear and crisp. Volume without effort. Very much fun with older rock & roll. KEF's need more guts from the amp(s). Full bodied and much smoother in Delievery. More enjoyable to my ear but the volume requires much more. Smaller package produces a surprisingly bigger sound. These produce more bass then the Reference monitors by Klipsch. The KEF's play bigger then their size. The price differences in these two monitors is reflective of their sound. The KEF's are about twice the price of the Klipsch when new. Are they worth every penny? Damn Skippy they are. Fuller bodied more accurate and room filling in a way that the very fun RB 61 II's are not. The Klipsch in no slacker for room filling fun and would most likely be great for HT as well but for two channel the KEF's are the winner habds down. This comparison was not done with the use of many types of music such as Big Band, technica and more lively music nor was Jazz used but Im thinking both speakers will excel in these areas as well.

I have had at least one pair of KEF speakers in my house for over 30 years and your description, "accurate clear and crisp, volume without effort" pretty much applies to all of the KEF speakers that I have owned. If you like the sound from KEF's you should try Tannoys Cheers Gary

Shoot out! First up, Oppo 103 Tidal > Studio 100 V5 via XMC-1 > XPR-1 Three songs followed by the same set up but with the KEF LS50 with a pair of Klipsch 308 subs. (They are 8" active and two passive drivers powered by 350 rms) Should sound similar Im guessing from previous sessions.

Hey Nick, I came across this dude on the street selling the KEF blades for $75. But it had a small scratch on them so I offered $50. But he said no, so I kept on walking.

EDIT; at this time I am unable to play the KEFs with the subs so the bottom end is lacking a little. The LS50s surprisingly have a bunch of bass for their size bit in a 14' X 16' X 8' room they are needed for some types of music.

Without moving a bunch of cable, Im under too much stress for all of that, Ive decided to play the XMC-1 in stereo and adjust the subs way down to accommodate the KEFs. Winner! Winner!!! You know the rest,,,,,,,,,
Sub, PSA XV15se (pair)
Sounds great, maybe not as full as the Studios but full and sweet. Highs are right on with the mids sucking up the power from the XPR-1s. Not sure how many watts these things are enjoying but there IS a smile on my face!!
