Hi guys...
So I just picked up an XPA-7. I am hooking it up to a Pioneer Elite SC-05 (until I decide on a better proc)
The SC-05 has been pretty admirable in powering my (7) Focal Chorus 8XX speakers (836 fronts, matching center, surrounds and 806's for back surrounds)
But I'm looking for more volume (while still sounding amazing!)
MY QUESTIONS: Would it be better to bi-wire my fronts with the XPA-7 and then use two of the channels of the SC-05 to power one set of the surrounds? If so, which surrounds? The sides or the backs? OR... should I just use the XPA-7 to power all 7 of the speakers and let the SC-05 just take the processor duties?
(the 836's have 92db sensitivity, max power of 250w and RMS of 180w.)

I'd use the XPA-7 to power all 7 channels, it has more than more than enough grunt.
Cheers Gary

I second that, that's why they built a 7ch amp, so you can power 7 speakers :, let the pioneer amp cry in the corner

If you were to biwire, use the Pioneer to power the back surrounds. But I would definately plug everything I could in the XPA-7.

The Pioneer does have more power than most receivers due to the class D modules, I still hate how these companies limit the info on the specifications for the amp section, the only ever give a wattage spec and nothing else.

FWIW, Focal speakers don't have bi-wire terminals.

FWIW, Focal speakers don't have bi-wire terminals. Correct. I just assumed the amp had the ability to combine channels. But no worries at this point anyway. Thanks.

be careful, bi amping is one thing, bridging an amp to provide more power to one channel is another. To my knowledge only the XPA-2 allows to be used in bridged mode.

Gary's correct. Let the XPA-7 do all the work. You'll love it!

I have mine doing 7 channels and the XPA200 doing the height channels, love them both, keep power cables away from interconnects, you might get hum...
