I am eagerly awaiting more information on this topic. Me too! My only disappointment is that they will be a replacement for their UPA line. I guess that Emotiva felt that the XPA configuration still sounds superior.

I agree. I would have wished they stuck to a more robust u-series. We went from the beefy UPA-2, UPA-5 to the more petite in build UPA-200 and now we have what I assume are tiny class D amps (DC-1 chassis). Hopefully their price point and performance will be good. There are plenty of cheap-a** class D amps on the market. Crown is a good example. I hope that their offerings will be competitive.
They know their arket I guess. But the UPA-2 was THE reason I joined the Emotiva family because they were the only game in town offering so much power at a good price and price was a key factor for me. At that time, if I was shopping and saw a tiny class D amp, I would have glossed over it and gone for more larger looking amps. And I'd have missed all that's great about Emotiva with that one move. But that's just me..... there some type of market for small class D amp that can sit on the bottom of a dc-1.

I'd be interested in a 7 channel model with some huge power in 3 channels and more modest ratings for the other 4. Something along the same lines as what D-Sonic does with their amps, but at a lower price point.

I'm hoping for tube hybrid class D like the Rogue Hydra/Medusa.

Yeah baby build in the USA.
The only thing that has me sideway is no 5Ch at the moment? just Stereo and Mono... I guess I can work with Mono, as I was planning on buying some by the end of the year, so here's for that time frame.
I like the way news broke out other than here, the way it should be in my opinion, no silly questions on 8 different threads, and asking are we there yet every second.

Djoel Sorry to say, I have seen that happening here for over 5 years....silly, silly....However, I bet you is going to happen again. I would not be surprised if by the end of today we have three other threads about this same topic....

An affordable 4ch Class D amp will sell like hotcakes for those chasing Atmos. Makes perfect business sense to me. I might even try a 2ch model and push it with a 4ohm load.

An Emotiva-sounding Stereo Class-D in small form factor could just be the way for me to add more grunt to the main L/R in conjunction with my Fusion 8100. Unless I completely redo the room where our A/V system is (not gonna happen anytime soon...), there is no way that I could add a traditional Class A/B stereo amp or have room (or money...) even for a XMC-1 + XPA-5.
On the other hand, although I cannot certainly tell Big Dan & Co. what to do, I think they should find a way to respond to Outlaw in the area of "entry level price" separate. I believe their 975 + 5000 is the only game in town for 5-channel, sub-$1,000 separate.
Unless of course it has been decided to let go of that portion of the market.

I don't work for Emotiva so I clearly have no insight to their product development but perhaps they are only testing the waters with the stereo and mono amps. I mean this in both terms of market response as well as building a class D amp. I would hazard a guess mono and stereo amps are easier (and less costly) to build than multi-channel amps.
Or perhaps the 3,5 & 7 channel amps are in the design phase already and simply were not discussed.

I read into this differently, I guess. I am still hoping for subwoofer amps. I think it would be awesome if they would launch a new class of sub amps with built in DSP, or even incorporate Dirac somehow and be able to use the XMC's mic for room correction.

Since they've already announced they will be 1RU, I'd think the question might be, how many channels can they put in a package that size? If it was a monoblock, then you just buy as many channels as you need, 7 channels, 7RU. That would be the most flexible, but would also make it more expensive due to redundant chassis, power supplies, packaging, shipping, etc. So maybe two channel amps you stack up, but then you'd usually have an extra channel. I'm assuming nothing would have balanced inputs, but even with RCAs and speaker terminals the back panel real estate goes quickly.

Sub amps would be nice too. I'd need something that could put out 2k watts@ 4ohms.. X4 . I could then replace the sanway clone in my rack.

Based on my speculation above, I'd think a pair of stereo amps (2RU total) would give more flexibility and allow expansion for a variety of Atmos configurations (11.x, 13.x, etc).

The absence of an 8100 replacement is huge, I've seeming nothing to compare on the market. At least if you want separates, you can go to outlaw.

Class D amps make a lot of sense IMO. Using less materials to build means saving on shipping costs and you can build 4-5 amps vs one class A/B amp. Shipping an XPA-2 across the country wipes out the better part of a $100 bill - the same amp in class D might cost $20-30. Many of you haven't tried class D in your own homes - I'm betting there will be a lot of surprised faces when you hear one for the first time. Read up on Andrew Robinson's review of the Crown XLS amps if you haven't already its an eye-opener - he 'discovered' what I did - the class D amp is every bit as good as these boat anchors that approach 70-80 pounds for 2 channels. A real waste of materials IMO. The 5 channel Rotel class D amp I have weighs 12 pounds and has enough power to drive most any speaker made - 100/180wpc into 8/4ohms using Bang & Olefsen modules. Rotel also makes a 250wpc stereo amp version that is highly regarded as well.
