It's annoying that the black face plates on my XPA-5 and UPA-500 don't match my XMC-1 very well. Have you tired to get Gen 2 faceplates for the XPA-5 and UPA-500? I swapped the Gen 2 faceplates on my ERC-3 for Gen 1's, so that all my gear has Gen 1 appearance (except the black buttons, which are all but unnoticeable). Cheers Gary

emotiva.com/products/accessories/gen-2-black-trimI have been using my Class D amps for about a year now and am completely happy with how they sound. My speakers are mostly 6ohm so my fronts have 900 watts a channel available, my 4 surrounds and two wides 600 wpc and my 8 ohm center has 400 watts available. Cool running and 90% efficent. Only issue is the price. I look forward to seeing some Class D from Emotiva.

I got rid of my 'd' integrated. An ASP module'd amp by PSAudio. It was a GCC250 of 500x2@4 ohms. But something I haven't seen mentioned yet is the 'specsmanship' involved in the ratings. True RMS power for these modules was way UNDER 150 per side. Full ouput was TIME LIMITED to 60 seconds. I suspect you'd end up frying the Zobel, which is the output network. The Big Brother 'kilowatt' version of the ASP module was time limited to 30 seconds. Certainly either would be long enough for real music, but OTHER limits in specs exist. I can't remember off-hand, but HF power is limited as well. www.icepower.bang-olufsen.com/files/solutions/icepower500aspdata.pdfLook on Page #6 for the relavent specs. 200 watts FTC method and severe upper frequency limits. Now, the reason I gave my 'd' amp up was it was NOT musically satisfying. I mean long-term. Something was missing and I had trouble with my panels making the HIGHS sound right. I went thru extensive setup tests, some lasting months which ultimately proved unsatisfactory. ONE other thing. Some posters like 'boat anchor' amps. Good on 'ya. But don't forget that MOST 'd' amps have switching power supplies which are VERY light and reasonably efficient. The ASP modules are unitized. Some 'd' amps are JUST amps (Hypex) and you can run a conventional power supply, no problem, thus getting the weight BACK where some folks think it belongs.
