" before what should have been the official expiration date?" I was/am an early adopter of the program as I stated and the expiration is on the anniversary of my enrollment. My point being that in my effort to support Emotiva I lost my benefits at an inconvenient time, I did not and could not foresee this happening. I'm not following.. if you had a membership and it expired at the scheduled time, then what difference does it make if you didn't utilize the membership when it was still in force? The fact that Emo decided to discontinue the program is a separate issue. Yes, their decision to discontinue the program is an entirely different topic and one that I'm not commenting on. The letter that geboo shared just proves that I was right in jumping on board to support Emotiva and in the end helping myself and every one of us in the long term. I.e, Big Dan and Co are NOT a bunch of money grabbers but enthusiast like ourselves. Thanks Team Emotiva,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,yep! I'm still a Kool-Aid drinker,,,,,he,,,,he,,,,he,,,,,, .

The last day of the summer sale has arrived. My Grant CD327A has been acting up - the drawer has been inconsistent on loading a CD. So................... I figured I'd try an ERC-3. Just got off the phone with the Sales Dept and it will ship early next week.

My review of the ERC-3 Gen2 compared to my Grant Fidelity CD327A. For those of you who are not familiar with Grant it's a Canadian audio company with a similar mantra as Emotiva - High End - Not High Priced. The CD327A is a discontinued model that I got from an audio friend in London, Ontario. It has a built in tube buffer and some nice Mundorf and Solen PP capacitors. Did some listening to the Grant CD327A and the ERC-3 Gen2 today. They are very close in sound. I would have to give the Grant the nod in the bass. The ERC-3 has nice deep bass too; but the Grant is just a bit, maybe, warmer due to the built-in tube buffer with Psvane 12AX7-T tubes. To my ears its just sounds better. The ERC-3 is a tad bit nicer in the highs with more clarity and definition; plus the noise floor is quieter. Mids are so very close, perhaps the ERC-3 because its quieter. Quite comparable in SQ but the ERC-3 is overall a smoother sounding unit and better design/build. I'm keeping both of them. My XSP-1 is on the way back after the repair department was looking into an issue. I can't wait to try the ERC-3 with balanced connectors.

I've been watching this thread and wondering if I had anything I could add to it. Every since I purchased my ERC-1 back in 2010 it's been connected directly to my Grant Fidelity B-283 tube buffer, from there it goes to which ever amp configuration I'm currently listening to. I commented on this forum about my hybrid tube CD player and nobody seemed interested then. I have the solidly built, and easily the best CD player I've ever owned the ERC-1 coupled with that tube distortion I that love so well. I always try to find champagne, and caviar at beer and pretzel prices. I've learned that just because something cost more that doesn't necessarily mean it sounds better. In this hobby it's all about what floats your boat. I don't get hung up on what somebody else likes it's all about me. I spend my money to satisfy my own personal taste, and budget. First let me say I'm not that patient, I waited six months for Emotiva and Bob Carver to come up with some Emotiva Glass. When that didn't happen I opted for some of that cheap Chinese gear folks love to hate. I love it. I have congestive heart failure I couldn't afford to wait around. So now that I don't want for anything I can wait as long as it takes or as long as I last, whichever comes first, but you can bet while I'm waiting I'm listening to my home made hybrid tube CD player okay.

We've got 2 Cary Audio tube buffers we like alot even though they are very old , their model #'s are both CAD-5500 even though their different designs , one is a standard output stage & the other with the same model # has a gain/volume control , both units were less than $500 20 some odd years ago & no frills gear but they have excellent sound , i'd like to put one in our Emotiva rig but the older we get & the more systems we have its became super important to have 100% matched gear brands in the rigs & HT that are in the main areas of our homes . In our small systems in bedrooms & my office i dont care about matched gear but since we built the emo rig around the 400 lb Mcintosh Line Arrays in a critical listening room whatever goes in that rig must be emo , were most likely buying the Mcintosh 300 watt tube monoblocks at tax time for our tube rig so that'll get us our new gear fix while we wait more for anything tube from emo , i left all the emo gear boxed up for 2 plus years waiting on the promised emo tube line & finally broke down & set it all up & started using it all .

I need to apologize because we seemed to have hijacked a thread. I inadvertently was responding to a different thread about Emotiva and the possibility of a tube CD player. I followed a link and responded to it and it ended up here. What I was discussing has nothing to do with the Summer sale sorry about that guys my bad. I'll pay better attention next time.
