I'm sort of thinking price point should have been $149 but realize Audioquest's Dragonfly lacks compared to the Ego series.

I got the big ego today. I tried it with a 32ohm audio tehcnica and a 600ohm beyerdynamic. The ego struggles with the 600ohm at higher volumes but it is expected with 1.8v output. I just can say that the sound is wonderful. Super refined and clear. Tried the filters and i think that i like the F2 the most (Asymmetrical low filter),my least favorite is the HP (headphone blend) filter. I would highly recommend a really good set of cans with low impedance to get all the juice directly from the ego. I put a pic comparing sizes with an average size mouse

I too liked the F2 filter the best. I will have to try the headphone blend a couple of more times to decide if I like it or not. I was in bed and may have been half asleep but I didn't notice much difference. My headphone were pretty cheep and sounded okay but now I will have to invest in better ones (anybody got any suggestions in the $150-$200 range).
I was also wondering what exactly the USB streaming modes In the toolbar do? Also what should I use for the buffer? I do know that the Reliable USB stream made the music sound like crap. It seemed to cut off the high frequencies and emphasized the bass.

Another vote for the F2 filter. But I haven't decided on the headphone blend mode. It seems some material is better with and some I prefer without.

Very excited and can't wait to pull the trigger on the Little Ego!
Anyone know what the recommended headphone impedance (range) is? I read that it struggles with 600Ohm cans. So assuming 220Ohm should be fine but I can't find the details on the spec page.
Thanks!

Btw, here is what I got from Emotiva support if anyone is looking for similar information:
" The Big Ego and Little Ego work well with headphones of any impedance between 8 ohms or so and 600 ohms.
There are only two areas in which the Egos are limited. First, they won't work well with the types of super-low efficiency planars that people normally connect to "speaker amplifiers". And, second, their limited output voltage (1.8 VRMS) will mean that they won't be able to play very loudly with high impedance headphones (300 ohms or 600 ohms) which also have relatively low efficiency. "

Can either of the ego's be powered from an iphone 6+, I was looking at getting a nice portable dac that could be plugged into the iphone camera connection kit (USB connection) I had the Onkyo HA200 on my wishlist but would love to give the egos a shot.
Has anyone tried this yet ?

Well 600 is a steep load for most headphone amps.....if portability is not essential, I would go with a standalone headphone amp for it.

Hi all. Considering building a audio setup for a PC using Big Ego+Control Freak+Stealth 4 powered monitors. Has anyone used these with powered speakers yet? If so, how does it sound? thanks.

Hi Crypto. I haven;t heard the ego but have heard the airmotivs. If this is your first foray in to good sound, you are going to be thrilled. There's simply no other way to say it

Hi all. Considering building a audio setup for a PC using Big Ego+Control Freak+Stealth 4 powered monitors. Has anyone used these with powered speakers yet? If so, how does it sound? thanks. For the last couple of days I've been using a Big Ego connected to Airmotive 4's with a MacMini as the source. The sound quality using the analogue ladder volume control in the Big Ego controlled by the Mac volume slider is the first thing I noticed, even at very low volumes there is no loss of clarity like there is with a digital volume control. Overall the sound quality improvement from the BigEgo over my previous external DAC, a Behringer UCA202, is about the same step up as when I went from the internal MacMini DAC to the UCA202. For a home office near field sound system it was very good before now it's quite amazing. I'd highly recommend it. Cheers Gary

These Egos are so good. Little in size, big in your listening pleasure. I want one and I already have a great DAC in the XMC-1.
Now I can hook up a DAC in my bedroom desk, and do real well and not eat up desk space.

Now I am more interested in this unit Care to expand with some subjective impressions?
