Here is another mono amp that might work in a pinch. The MC2KW monoblock amplifier is designed to exceed the demands of true lifelike playback levels, capable of delivering 2,000 watts of continuous power and 8,000 watts of peak power into 2, 4 or 8 ohm speakers. That's purrrrrrty!
edit: Just looked up the price - $$,$$$80,000!!,!!! per pair
Everything is relative. Why not buy seven of them? They will break a pair. You better have a strong shelf if they are not on the floor because they weigh in at 123 lbs for the output module and 127 lbs for the power module. For one amp that is 250 lbs each or 1750 lbs for a modest 7 channel system. Emotiva mono amps are seeming like a steal

In other words, you can get a couple pairs of XPR-1s and the Martin Logan Neolith .

If the Krells are not having an issue with those panels, I would not swap them out. Chances are too good you will go backwards driving a load that hard. None of the Emotiva mono blocks are rated below 2ohms and their protection will kick in.

Different story with Wilson Audio, I've only heard a couple Wilson models powered by McIntosh mono's, very impressive.
But I gotta say, I'm very comfortable with the sound of Martin Logans. My Vistas don't completely disappear but they come close.

MLs DO sound pretty. They don't work in my room or I'd have kept the pair I had. I've also had Maggies & bipolar speakers here... They just won't work in my room. I do best with front radiating dome and cone speakers. Fortunately, there are plenty available, and in all pice ranges.
One other amp option you might consider is the class-D amplifiers. One of the Lounge members, Mark Klein (@mklein I think) has a pair that he thinks highly of. The Class D circuits can be tuned to be very tolerant of low impedance.
Happy Shopping!

In all seriousness, Any X series amplifier is geared up and ready to go with challenging to drive low impedance speakers like Planars, Electrostatics, and difficult to drive dynamics like Infinity Kappa's of Arnie Nudel fame.

...and difficult to drive dynamics like Infinity Kappa's of Arnie Nudel fame. Well, maybe... A gentleman posted here recently about how his Kappas would trip the breakers on his Emotiva amps. Of course, he was driving them at "bleeding ear" volumes, but his other amps could do the job without tripping. If one wants auditorium volumes with difficult-to-drive speakers, then "pro" class-D amps are likely more stable at those loads/output levels than ANY consumer amps. Do those pro amps sound as good? No, but they will do low-impedance output without shutting down. Since I don't listen that loudly, the better sounding amps are a much more reasonable choice for me. "You pays your money, you takes your choice." Were I powering a stadium, Emotiva amps wouldn't be my first choice. In my listening room, "pro" amps aren't my first choice. Boom

I would agree, but Emotiva amps are designed with the home installation in mind. A pro amp like a Crown, Crest, or similar is ideal for the venue amp app. They were made from the ground up for that life. But in most in the room applications, An X series will do very well.

Yeah, that is great, or you could get 10 or so XPR-1 amps! Have all the power you would ever need, and what would the fun stuff be with the 60,000 or so you saved, would go too. Hmmm, now that would be fun. Okay with the sale going on I went crazy. Say 15 of them and..... As Adrian Monk said on the show Monk, "I'm LOL'ing out loud"!
So, if I *were* going to use $80k as my budget just for amps, and I bought 15 XPR-1's, and had $60k left over, then instead of buying a *used* Boxster like I'm planning on doing - I could buy a *new* one! I'm down with that! (my second favorite car, can't afford a Audi R8 convertible)

It's not going to necessarily be the low impedance that gets you but the REACTANCE of an electrostatic speaker at higher frequencies. This can make SOME amplifiers unstable. A LONG time ago, about '76 or so, I went to a buddies house to audition some Magnepan MG-1s, which I DID buy. These guys were engineering types who even built their own Turntables and some electronics. They THAN plugged in a pair of 'Stats to the amp (a commercial product) they had just used for the Maggies. The 'Stats emitted a brief 'CHIRP' and ceased to function. I heard later that ALL output devices in both channels were DUST. OOOPS!

You could buy a PAIR of Constellation monoblocs for about $54k and have enough left over for a Miata….also new.

I too have the Martin Logan Vista's and here is my experience. My previous amp was the XPR-2 and it clipped everytime the volume level reached 60+ on the UMC-1. I replaced it with a pair of XPR-1's and have never clipped once. I've had the volume go up as high as 70 and it's freakin LOUD. My friend purchased a set of used B&W 804's and brought it over to my place to test since he has a cheapo receiver. We had a get together that day and almost everyone preferred the sound of the ML's. Maybe the 800d's will sound better than my ML, but I only paid 2k for my ML brand new.

I don't typically listen and super loud levels so clipping has never been an issue. I first ran them on a Denon AVR-4306 receiver and it was OK. I then upgraded to an XPA-2. The difference was immediately noticeable and better. Now I have them connected to XPA-1L amps and I couldn't be happier. I did have an ex blow out the cone driver on one of them - listening to crap music on youtube of all places. It was shortly after that she became an ex. ML's customer service was top notch. I had a replacement driver within two days and install coudn't have been easier. That said, if you do have to service a ML electrostat I would highly recommend having another set of hands. I sincerely doubt I'll ever own anything other than ML speakers from now on.
