Um, Nick...that's not a monoblock. What you want/need is 7 XPR-1's.

Thanks Mark, but I've always advocated MONOBLOCKS for two channel, a good/great multichannel EMOTIVA amp for HT. So, a pair of XPR-7 for whatever solution of object based HT would be great,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,for a large cavern!!,,,,,,,he,,,,,he,,,,,,,he,,,,,,,,,

You know, there was a guy here way back that had XPA-1's powering his theater...over 10 of them. If monoblock are good for stereo, then...why not? Right? Mark

How do we get one of these!?!?!?!?!? A matching RMC-1 would look lovely with it as well!!! View Attachment Unicorns do exist!!! The big processor will be called the XMR-1. It's going to be 16-channel, hence you need one XPR-7, one XPR-5 and three XPR-1, the latter for LCR. Or three XPR-5.

16 XPR-1's...you better put your order in. They might need to have some extra iron ore mined to make those heavy metal beasts!
LOL!

I too think when the XMR-1 is available the XMR-7 may be on my shopping list, but if we get to the point of 7+ channels of amplification (like Erwin.BE mentioned), then I may want to see what's happening on the Class D front. In that case a couple XPR-7D's (DPR-7?) or a dozen DPR-1's might be fun! In any case we need R series cosmetics for the lot.

Just thinking about this makes my old back hurt. Where are the high end digital amps? I'll take a 500W/ch 7ch XMR-D amp in a 3RU chassis that weighs about 20lbs instead. You young'ins can lug around all of that iron instead.

So in the near future will there be arguments between the analog amp purists who still prefer their 100 lb behemoths and their warm, pleasing sound with the ticks and pops caused by heat sink expansion, against the digital crowd with their 5 lb cold, sterile amps?

With an input tube buffer circuit to "un-sterilize" it and make it sound anyway you want. It would be a nice product if you ask me.

With an input tube buffer circuit to "un-sterilize" it and make it sound anyway you want. It would be a nice product if you ask me. In the future when digital amps have become the norm, solid state analog amp purists would then lovingly tend to their amps, the prices of which would have increased by tenfold or more for the same basic box that amplifies a signal. By then, various accessories will have come out as well, like special cleaning pads for the amp terminals ($600 for each one-time use pad), special vacuums to draw dust out of the vents ($2,000) and stuff like that. Amps will get even heavier, too - we'll see 500 lb. amps that are the size of a small refrigerator. Tube amps will have progressed to look like the Emerald City from afar. Or near.
