Looking to get some decent (but affordable!) wall treatments for my Maggies. I've never used acoustic treatments before and I don't know where to start!

Where to start? If you have wood floors right this second you can throw a rug on it in front of each speaker!
Close the drapes over the windows!
That's a start,,,,,you'll get much more advice but I don't have time to tell you more at this moment.
Good luck, best improvement money can buy,,,,on the cheap.

Take a look at acousticalsolutions.com and read as much information as you can. They seem to have reasonably priced panels and many fabric options. Look at the Alphasorb panels. Make them yourself, however is the most economical!

Built my own from 1x4's and fiberglass insulation, covered with a nice decorator fabric. Cost about 50 dollars for both.

One nice thing about Maggies is they generally need less wall treatments. There's lots of DIY vids on youtube.

Be mindful that with Maggies you can't use acoustic treatment the same way you will typically use acoustic treatment with box speakers because, yup you guessed it, Maggies are not box speakers....

Not mentioning rear ported speakers, sound still gets reflected off all of the walls, this includes the floor and ceiling, there is still a need to control this, maybe even more so with Maggie's. No? One last point and I'll leave this poor horse be. I think that every room can find benefits from sound treatment no matter the speaker.

After rugs and curtains I would start with bass traps in the corners the speakers are on

If you need slap-echo attenuation, thin absorbers (I bought ATS, but you can DIY to save $$) work well. OR you can just hang up some thick textiles (quilts or curtains work fine), For bass control, you get into corner traps & lots more money. Most rooms DO need bass control, though.
You needn't go overboard on room treatments, though - the first few give 90% of the benefits. Buying commercially, I'd say that three to five hundred bucks will do most rooms easily for slap-echo control. I don't know what the bass traps go for but it's LOTS more, so if you're a DIY sort of guy, definitely make your own bass traps.

Check out Sams Club online. Nice set of 4 that come in three different colors. Work very well.
