Schiit is touting the new Gungnir multi-bit as an "Yggdrasil junior," or to put it another way, a more affordable "Yggdrasil" that costs $1000 less? Now ain't that some seerious schiit? That would certainly sound like an interesting proposition, with everything dependent on how closely the sound of the G-multibit resembles that of the Senior Yggdrasil... Hence the need for comparative reviews!
So what say thee: Oh ye my brethren who art deep into the world of schiit, or are familiar enough with their schiit to provide a reliably informed opinion? How does Yggy junior stack up against Yggy Senior? Does Junior have enough schiit to cut the mustard?
Inquiring minds want all this schiit sorted, one way or another.

I hear they are coming out with a line of products that are easier to pronounce: Good Schitt, Great Schitt, My Schitt, Yoir Schitt, Deep Schiit, and Holy Schitt. And some monoblocks...but two and have 2 Schitts. Mark I think you forgot Happy-Horse Schiit

Tubes have a different transfer characteristic than transistors. This means that, while tube circuits usually produce more distortion than solid state circuits, they also sound somewhat different at the same distortion level. (Tubes and tube circuits produce a different distortion spectrum; the percentages of each harmonic, and how they vary at different drive levels, are different.) From the description, the Schiit solid state tubes are designed to have a transfer characteristic much like tubes. So, when you put them in a "tube circuit", they'll sound something like tubes - but not as much so as "real glass tubes". In other words, they WON'T "simply sound like converting the amp to solid state". They'll sound sort of in-between, probably with a little bit of "tube sound", but not as much as "real tubes". So you're getting a third option for tuning the sound. But plugging a set into a Lyr is not at all the same as "making it into an Asgard". (I haven't heard them yet, but I suspect that someone who "likes tube sound" but finds the Lyr "a little too tubey" might find them to be just right ) Hmmm, I am wondering about Solid State Tubes. One would ask why didn't you just got the Asgard, or Moulnir in the first place. Oh wait, this is the Hifi hobby. Sorry about making sense.

Their new flagship amp will be called the Assplitter Schiit. And there is a turntable on the way called the Smooth Schiit. (Seriously, what a great name. It's like continuous self promotion. People will never get enough of it. Gotta love it.) Hot Schiit, Ghost Schiit, Lumpy Schiit, Loose Schiit, Korn Schiit, Takko Bell Schiit...... It's endless.

Actually, tube equipment sounds different both because the tubes themselves sound different, and because the amp circuitry that goes with them is different. A "solid state tube" isn't simply "replacement solid state guts for your tube amp". It's more like "a solid state simulation of a tube" - and you'll be plugging it into a tube circuit as well. Therefore, it should still sound very much like a tube, although probably not exactly. You might even say that it should act - and sound - more like an ideal tube - minus some of the flaws that "real" tubes are prone to I'm confused by this. Don't people buy tube stuff because they like the sound of tubes? So many of them seem to be anti-solid state same as the vinyl/analog versus digital divide. People buy the tube stuff for all its tubey goodness. But I guess having the option of solid state makes it boil down to tubey or not tubey... that is the question...

Okay lets really stir up the pot. The Perfect tube IS Solid State. It won't wear out, won't get real hot, oh wait, it is a Schiit, it still may. I think Jason pays homage to space heaters or something, or not. But I think I would not buy a Tube Amp, and make it Solid State. I would just make the best Solid State I knew how, or just make the best Tube Amp I could. Yeah, I am having a rough time with this one, and I would just get the Ragnorok, and not worry about it.

Don't forget the Apple product DAC: iSchiit I know they chose a funny name, but here we all are talking Schiit, so it must be working But Jim, you are forgetting when they said just one more thing, the Plutonium Pre drive stage running Crossfets in 3 Megawatt range.

I seriously doubt that twice the price will get anyone twice the improvement!!, but I don't know. Doesanyone ? Not yet I'm guessing. I'll stay tuned though.

It is better. Double though don't know about that. Yggy in combination with Rag especially is nice. Like they were brothers or something. Heard with the new Ether Headphones. Very nice. Better than some $10,000.00 something out there. I love my Magni 2 Uber.

I really like both my LCD-2 and XC. I'd also listen to the Mr Speakers Ether headphones. I found them to be way way more comfortable.
