I guess those are smashed mashed potatoes, I hope they don't have lumps in them! I just returned to the supermarket some Reeser's pre-cooked and just heat garlic mashed potatoes. They were actually delicious but, yes, they had multitudes of small lumps. Yuck! My first mother-in-law was a horrible cook and her mashed potatoes always had big-ass lumps in them. Lumpy mashed taters? No problem! Love them lumpy or creamy smooth. And, you returned them? Why not just mash up the lumps? Now, the true "yuck" is buying pre-made mashed taters! So easy to make and so much cheaper to make from fresh taters... Mark

I'm impressed Vincent! I'm with you and also now fighting for a victory everyday to live longer. I'm motivated to blurt it out here. Here's my story. Some here might know I was first diagnosed with heart disease while in Vietnam, 1969. Over the years it got worse. Heart meds for 20 years, open heart valve repair in 1991, V-tach, permanent A-Fib/Coumadin for the last 25 years, large aortic aneurysm for 12 years, 4 years ago congestive heart failure. Shortness of breath and severe fatigue. In my visit last December my cardiologist said to lose weight if I wanted to make it another several years. I had been overweight for many years at 6-4 and 240-275 lbs. March 1st, 245 lbs, I'm on 10 heart meds, 8 of them prescription. I started on my own plan. Low sugar, no more sweets and chocolate. No alcohol or caffeine for last 30 years due to serious heart rhythm issues. Just a common sense diet, lots of fish, occasional red meat, skinless breasts (chicken that is ), fruits and veggies, nuts, olive oil, avocado, etc., basically what is called a Mediterranean diet. I also walk 90 minutes every single day. A month ago during a visit with the doc, he said my echo and other tests looked much better. My BNP test which measures CHF, 4 years ago was a whopping at 5527 (super high) and was down to 225, within normal range. Good boy Chuck! I feel great now 4.5 months after my start. I am energy infused and no longer sleep 12-14 hours per day. I hope maybe I can give some motivation and inspiration to any here who might need to exercise and loose weight due to serious health issues. It is a little difficult the first week or so but became a breeze thereafter. The big news, my weight today with only my underwear (the lightweight ones) and thin socks was: 203 lbs! (Down 42 lbs in 4.5 months.) I have more energy than that battery bunny. I still have heart disease and will have a update visit in 5 weeks. Should be more good news. Those of you who are significantly overweight like me, you can do it. Take care folks.. Congrats, Chuck! Serious question, being that you live in rainy Seattle, do you still do the 90 minute walk if it rains? Thanks Monku, Yes, If the rain chance is low to medium. I check Accu Weather Hourly each night and morning before to decide whether I walk in the morning or evening. I don't walk if it is blowing strongly or threat of thunderstorm. Normal rain is OK unless it is really pouring, I carry a golf umbrella with me if there is a chance of rain. I sweat in Gore-Tex or rain coat. So I walk in light clothes w/umbrella to stay cool when. it rains. I also can't walk in the middle of the day due to 20 plus cases of skin cancer (luckily not melanoma) over the years, too much sun in Vietnam and still paying for that. I might have missed walking once or twice a month. Weather has been fairly dry since March. Now that I'm almost down to my heart healthy weight and when winter arrives I can back off the daily walk some. As you can tell, I'm really serious about this now.

She knows how to season them properly with zero lumps. I prefer boxed or refrigerated ones like Bob Evans or these Reser's. On special and I paid 3.99 for them on sale. So much easier just to return them than just mash them up. I like to spend very little time cooking, buying potatoes, cooking them, mashing them adding garlic, butter, etc. I was single for many years and tired of cooking. Mashed potatoes with lumps to me is like clams with sand! No Lumps ChuckieNut.

Mashed potatoes with lumps to me is like clams with sand! Clams with sand is nasty. Then again, I won't eat clams anyway. Mark

How can a package be in a town two hours away at noon today but scheduled to deliver at end of day tomorrow? UGH, waiting sucks.

Ain't the internet wonderful? In the old days, I had to do Chi-Square calculations by hand. Now multiple websites have simple "enter the data" forms that spit out the answers without requiring me to do the intermediate calculations. This allows me to provide a range of information to my client very quickly that would once have required half a day's worth of calculations: Although it's true that I could have built an Excel spreadsheet to do the same, it would have been a PITA to build and troubleshoot.
Now my only challenge is trying to explain to the client what the interval, confidence level, and population size are. This can be a bigger challenge than you'd think...
Once, my deep well operator, James, came to me asking "What is pH?" I gave the textbook reply "It's the log of the reciprocal of the number of free hydrogen ions in a liter of solution." After a very-long moment, James replied, "Yeah, but like, what does a pH look like? How do I know if too many of them are swimming around in my water?" And at that point, I decided that although James might eventually "get" pH, it just wasn't going to be a quick process...
And I accept some of the blame there. A person who truly understands something can almost always explain it in terms that others can understand. The more tenuous your own understanding of something, the more narrowly you will be able to explain it to others.
And I've always found that the smartest people are the most generous about sharing their knowledge. Those who are unwilling to share knowledge are usually those who fear loss of position or status if anyone else knows as much as they do.
And finally, the smartest people are usually those with the broadest range of curiosity. Show me a person without curiosity, and I'll bet that their IQ measures rather poorly.
Enough mumbling - I'm off to sleep!

Another post from a thoughless person who probably really wants some nice headphones for listening to music. However, no data on what he has, nor what he is looking for, genre of music, open or closed back. For on the go, at home, serial axe murdering. Nothing.
Love to fill your brain with some tasty ideas, but you have to turn on your brain first and tell us more. 100,000 plus people will recommend headphones from all over the place. He will most likely either buy nothing, or buy the wrong ones because he does not have any expectations set. Kind of dumb, but that how some people roll I guess.

Proof positive that being around people that inspire you make a difference. Did 12.5 miles of cardio very intense. On my way to 28 pounds lost by end of September, and motivating others of what is possible if you just do it! Do or do not! For there is no trying! My friend Anthony is going for his pilot license, and since I am all things aviation, I want to help if I can. He is a fitness buff too. Pushing each other to greater heights is why this is my new fun hobby. I still like AV, and tolerate computers if I must. But being around people that are exciting and motivated, get me revved up to the possibilities.
Do you have time for whom I call "downers"? No you don't and you deserve better. The company you keep is the company that pushes you further into excellence, and makes life worth living.
It is a choice. Your choice. Make it a good one!
