Russ Yes, both of the links on the Resource page point to the same download (the PDF). Here's what the "full" download link should be (click below)... emotiva.com/resources/updates/XMC-1_v31a_update.zip

Oops.... links are fixed. Hi Keith,
I am wondering if this is possibly a glitch with 3.1 (another issue)
I cannot maintain zero transparency with the OSD.
Set transparency to "0" and it works initially.
Then restart the XMC-1 and the transparency returns to the screen (like around 30 percent or so). Even though the setting is at zero.

FIRMWARE V3.1a HAS BEEN RELEASEDAlso note that, after the update, the firmware version will still show as " Firmware Version 3.1 15/10/12" in the Information screen. However, after the update, the front panel code version (on the next line) will show as " FP Version 1.4 15/10/20" - which is different. Good to know. Thanks!

The price now is usd 2499 for xmc-1 I play sacd and wants a prepro that does full bal on at least 5.1 ch Waiting for xmr-1 but not as enthusiastic as before Xmc-1 cannot decode 5.1 24/192 if I am not mistaken, hoping xmr-1 can address this Even at the indicated price of 5k for xmr-1 it is still usd3000 with the 40% discount card - this is not small change At 3k it should reasonably be bugs free Not sure if xmr-1 can make it by 2017 Thanks Oops. just want to double check is XMC-1 able to decode 5.1 24192? I know Dirac dose not support it. Assuming I have turn it off in XMC-1? Thanks.

I have installed the FW 3.1a (as well as 3.1) and my XMC-1 still gives me THUMPS when I am playing DSD Direct on my Oppo 95. When I turn the TV off on the handshake, thump THUMP, when I turn it back on, thump de thump de THUMP, when I change input to another, no problem, but when I come back and get the handshake, de THUMP. Before I installed the updated FW I only got one LOUD THUMP. Now I have several, this is NOT an improvement. I am not sure just how loud they are now, because they have scared me of messing up my speakers SEVERAL times when I have forgotten, so now I only test it out at low levels. I did a Factory Reset and for one iteration of turning the TV off then on, it was OK, then the Thumps came back worse than (multiple) than before. Any and all help would really be appreciated. God Bless, Wayne

For all of you Oppo Thumpers out there. There is an update Nov 6 out for the Oppos that may help. If that doesn't help, try this. Go in to the Menu of your Oppo, go to Audio settings, select SACD and change the output to PCM, no thumps any more, and you will be able to use DIRAC to play your SACD's. IMO with DIRAC the SACD's sounds much better than straight SACD with no room correction. You get the best of both worlds this way.

Hi Pacobear, Where do I find that Nov. 6 update? The last one that I know of is 3.1a. That is Oct. 20 so far as I know. Is there one after that? I get your point and I may have to do that to get to play my SACDs, but it sucks when something is supposed to work and it doesn't. God Bless, Wayne

Nov 6 is for the Oppo. Not the XMC-1. "but it suckswhen something is supposed to work and it doesn't." Welcome to advanced technology, it's so advanced no one really knows how it works.

While I agree with you and do prefer this method, there are many that want the XMC to decode the DSD stream directly to analog.

Well Pocobear and Geebo, IF I give in to the THUMPS, say "UNCLE" and set my Oppo 95 to PCM as I just did, I do not now have any clicks, pops, THUMPS, just pure music. And I will give you this, I DO LIKE DIRAC!!!!!! Since the SACDs that I am playing, which I WISH I was playing in DSD, are surround sound discs, my DIRAC being balanced for surround sound (not just movies, but yes, for movies too) is giving me a great sound, very satisfying. So the only downsides to this are: I should be enjoying the DAC in the XMC-1, letting it work its magic, instead of the DAC in my several years old Oppo. (Which one is superior? My ears are not that Golden, so I am not sure) AND I normally leave my XMC-1 set to AUTO, and the dang thing continually reverts to DOLBY PL IIx MUSIC and Preset 1 SO I miss the first minute or so of music getting things set right on SURROUND and DIRAC.
Those are my downsides that I wish I was not forced to accept to "work around" my THUMPS. Can someone tell me how to get the XMC-1 to default to DIRAC??? and to SURROUND?? I do not wish to use DOLBY ANYTHING, but it ALWAYS defaults to it!!!!!!! Always open to suggestions, and any help, for which I am thankful, God Bless, Wayne P.S. IF you have not listened to "The Heifetz Concertos" recorded 3 channels across the front of the room on Living Stereo SACD, Sibelius.......... PLEASE try to listen to this MARVELOUS music and wonderful recording.Attachments:

In the setup for the imputs you can set default speaker presets and surround mode for two channel and multi channel independently. It's all in the Setup for the Inputs.

I've only had the unit for less than a week (bought a two month old used unit from a guy who was moving). I updated it to 3.1a the first day.
Twice (in the last week) I've opened dirac just to go to the measurements I previously made. One time Dirac froze on my Windows 10 PC, and the XMC-1 still showed Dirac Connected. I had to remove power from the XMC-1 for a minute then plug it back in (restarting Dirac after closing it with Task Manager, but it would not connect).
The other time, I was just looking at measurements in Dirac and then closed it. Went to play some multichannel PCM and the XMC-1 would make thumps when volume went up/down or when I paused Foobar2000 (was using WASAPI under Windows 7). The thumps were coming from my subs. Again, I had to pull the plug out and plug it back in.
To be clear, the reason I had to remove power I think is because I have it set to send video out in standby (mainly so my home automation server can maintain an open port connection to control the unit over the network).
