I ordered a pair of XPA-1L's and for the time being I only have some Polk Monitor 60 II's to run them with. I currently have an XPA-3 hooked up. I will eventually replace the 60's with 70's. Does anyone think that there will be a noticeable difference with either speaker?
Going forward what speakers will pair well with the 1L's?

Put more money into speakers and less into the electronics. Then you'll hear a large difference. Polk Monitors can be driven quite easily with a decent AVR.

I think you should save some more. And not upgrade to a speaker $100 more expensive than your current one. I say this coming from a lifetime of incremental upgrades. Save for the pricey speaker. You will save in the long run. For instance, check out these speakers from Tekton designs. tektondesign.com/lore-m.htmlThis unit is close to the price of those monitors. Or go even more expensive too. Good luck on your journey.

I whole heartedly agree with garbulky, mine aren't the most expensive speakers by far, but Im still in love with there sound and will be for some time to come. I got by with a set of Klipsch 28s for a very long time ,,,,and enjoyed them very much. The price difference in the speakers was huge!!, so was the sound! Well worth the wait. Its a long journey, take your time and smell the roses, it'll be that much sweeter when you find the right speakers for you.

I agree with the members here, better speakers will take more advantage from the power of the xpa-1l's. If you like detailed sound i can recommend the Ikon line from Dali speakers. I think they will be a great match for the xpa-1l's.

I grabbed these on sale since I was always curious about monoblocks. This is for my second(ary) system sort of. As I upgrade my main system parts and pieces migrate to the second system. The L1's are not for my main system. The Monitors are just there for the time being. I guess I need a serious pair of speakers to evaluate the L1's.

This hobby doesn't have to be expensive - however there is no getting around the fact that few inexpensive speakers are going to sound as good as more expensive ones and no amount of money spent on electronics is going to improve on speakers that just aren't 'all that'. As with all things costing money there is a point at which the percentage of money spent does not give you a matching percentage of sound quality increase. Coming up with a hard and fast rule that spending $3000 is that dividing line. Some will raise the bar (and the price) and others will lower it some.
The best bang for the buck for speakers is IMO your local Craigs List and want ads. You just need to know what you're looking at and some idea of what to expect when you buy used speakers. Its like buying a used car - do your homework and know what to look for.

I will probably try the L1's out with some Ushers and see... one of these days. Probably sooner than latter.

BTW the 70's have always surprised me when driven with enough amp. I originally had them on an XPA-200 and that was an Improvement over the AVR RX-A1040, fast forward to a Halo A31 and their performance improved all along. Now they are doing surround duty on a Parasound v2250

I believe a system will only be as resolving as a speaker can let it be, just my .02 of course

I must agree with the previous respondents. There will be little difference between the sound of other Emotiva amps and the 1Ls.
As to speakers, there's a world of good ones out there, and what sounds best to you is something that you'll need to determine by audition.
Popular brands include:
B&W Klipsch Theil Avalon Acoustics Dali Golden Ear Martin Logan Magnepan Definitive Technology Focal-JM Lab Infinity JBL KEF Polk PSB Totem Vandersteen
And many others.

^^^ Absolutely. I read all about Golden Ear, went to a store to audition them, and realized that they didn't sound as good as my (then) current speakers - Mirage OM-6 and its brothers.
Spent about 3 hours in the store and fell in love with Paradigm Studio 100's and its brothers. Bought them and love them.
Unfortunately that store (Hi-Fi House in Wilmington, DE is out of business)
