Actually my demo Audeze LCD-XC and El-8 open cans just came in today. Due in December is a set of LCD-4's! I need to get a dedicated amp going, currently only have an ifi and the zesto leto's headphone out, but they are sounding wonderful.

Pretty solid performing headphones. However, they don't stand a chance up against the LCD series.

Oh wow a $4000 headpghone! That's going to have to go up against the Abyss! I asked my national sales rep, and he said LCD-4 about a 20% performance increase over the LCD-X/LCD-3. with your prior question to how the LCD-X sound, I will say they are a wonderful treat. They are about as good as a quality pair of speakers, only the soundstage is smaller. If you get into headphones, you know it isn't something you can just sit down casually and get the same effect as speakers. You have to be relaxed, in the right frame of mind and they are super rewarding. When I commit to listening to my LCD-X I get lost in them, and they send chills down my body. I get a different experience from my speakers. It's nice to have both a nice set of speakers and a capable personal audio station. HD700 can't even compete. I loved my Oppo PM-1, but I feel the LCD-X is the first REAL headphone I have ever heard.

Plus its much easier to get lost in them when the family is around vs speakers with the family around .

I find the pm-2 great for budget, but one has to remember you still want a quiet environment to listen in if possible especially with open back cans. If it's noisy sometimes just have to wait it out or go the IEM route.

My headphone station is whichever drawer has room to stuff the darned things in. I hate headphones, and tolerate them only when I must. I looked in my drawers, but with Little Chuckie and his two close friends taking up all the available space, there is just no room for headphones (even the folded type). I do about 90% of my headphone listening at my PC station so my Emo XDA-2, USB DAC/Digital Preamp/Headphone Amp, is my dedicated headphone station. It is perfect for me!

Yes I do have specific headphone station that I enjoy very much. I have too many headphones and amps that I collected over the years. I tend to switch my headphones and amps depends on my mood and how much time that I have. But it is whole another experience than the speaker setup. It will never replace my speaker setup but I do spent more time using the headphone system than speaker system. My favorite headphone system is Sennheiser HD600 for open back and/or Etymotic ER4S for IEM pairing with Headroom Millett Hybrid Amplifier.

Hello all. Just picked up another DC-1 to replace my old one. I want to send a BIG Thank You to forum member stlaudiofan1 for making this possible!!! Oh my...after not having the DC-1 for about a year or so now, I actually forgot how GREAT this DAC is. I knew I missed it dearly, but I just got it up and running tonight and the love is pouring through my headphones! Windows 10 > Foobar2k Wasapi event mode> USB to DC-1 > ATH-M50X, Sennheiser HD 598 & HD 419, Beats Solo2, Grado SR80i, etc. I am being WOW'd by the DC-1 yet again. Been using Asus laptop, 5.5 gen iPod, and iPhone 6 as sources in the meantime and it's not even close. Literally from the 1st track I played, it all started coming back to me. The sound is so much more relaxed and detailed at the same time. I know a lot of R2R fans don't like delta sigma chips, claiming they have too much digital glare, but I just don't hear it with the DC-1. Zero issues with noise/static/distortion/etc on either sync or asynch mode. In fact, no issues at all (same way with my first unit). All I am getting is beautiful, beautiful music from the DC-1! I recommended this DAC before, and with the current sale, it's an even better value. You get a 24/192 DAC, a pre-amp that even has an analog input, remote control, headphone amp, AND it's fully balanced to boot. Don't hesitate and order yours today! EDIT: I decided to quit "playing around" and just play an album all the way through. I have been listening to Dee Dee Bridgewater, Irvin Mayfield & the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra's CD rip "Dee Dee's Feathers" (I ripped it to ALAC). Anyway, playing it through the DC-1 into my Senn 598's and it's a real treat to be sure. It's a great jazz record (been listening to a lot more jazz lately for some reason) and it's filled with great musicianship as well as what I like to call "great sonic textures". I listen to a lot of different music for a lot of different reasons. Sometimes I listen to records simply because I like the way they sound or the way it was produced, etc. This record not only sounds sonically interesting, the songs themselves are really cool as well. It's one of those records that demands to be played back on the DC-1. The detail retrieval of the DC-1 makes it even better and it pulls me even further into the music. One of the greatest thing about the DC-1 (IMO) is its ability to resolve everything, and give every sound its own space in the sound stage. No congestion for the "busier" tracks on here, and no harshness to be found. For some reason, my volume level keeps increasing...LOL!

I remember my DC-1 withdrawals and how fantastic it was to have in my system again! Glad to hear you are getting just as much enjoyment! BTW, I recently listened to this (free) album provided by Chesky. It sounded amazingly good through the DC-1. A very 3d type of recording if you would. Though the music isn't quite my taste... emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/44505/free-chesky-recording-folk-music
