Thxs everyone,no hum in my system,no offence to anyone but ive heard about Emotiva products being sub standard,I figured it was just brand snobs,In my living room I have a Vizio TV and one for 8 yrs in my bedroom,I think there great TVs but they have a bad rep also.Emotiva amps look great to me never heard one,but the guts of them look like there built well,I just ordered a xpa-5 and rca cables, website says out of stock but the nice lady on the phone got me one.I've been reading here and it says not to plug the amp into a power surge protector just straight into a wall socket,do you guys do that? they are only substandard to those who need to justify (in the name of high end) spending 4 times the amount for the same or less performance and quality. those of us who have owned very pricey audio gear as well as emotiva equipment know what a great value these amps really are. yes.. you can find better, but not without a 2nd mortgage on the house. tchaik………………….

I owned a ATI amp yrs ago it was $$$$ & sounded good, but the Emotive is just as good, the ATI transformer had a hum not through the spks you could hear it coming from the amp,so sometimes high price don't help.My Emotive is not in a cabinet so it gets good air circulation but it runs a little warm but not hot,I did drive it pretty hard, should I place a fan on it,I've got several fans so might as well use one.
