My UMC-200 has the factory installed firmware version .41. Considering that nowhere can I find what version .47 actually fixes and considering how potentially difficult the update can be, just wondering if I should just stick with version .41. So my two questions are:
1. Anybody know what "Improvements" or "Fixes" and contained in the .47 over .41? 2. Anyone have any advice on whether I should just stay with version .41 and thereby sidestep the risks of, during an upgrade attempt, corrupting the version I have.
Thanks in advance.

Many here will tell you, if it's not broke don't fix it. When I had the UMC-200, I had very few if any problems with it. Yes I updated to version .47 and personally had no problems upgrading firmwares the few times that I did it, but admittedly can't now tell you what it was supposed to fix. I think it was only minor bug fixes, but if you want a more definitive answer, give Emotiva a call. If anyone can shed more light on your question it's them.

Thanks, LC. I'm leaning toward NOT upgrading to version .47. When I read the instructions and the various threads in the Lounge about this procedure, it sounds so fraught with roadblocks and danger that you get the idea your UMC-200 might actually explode if you don't do everything just so. Is it your opinion that if you precisely follow the instructions, most version upgrades go smoothly and are successful?

When I had my UMC-200 I had no issues with updates because I meticulously followed the directions, step by step. There's no reason to fear updates - just be sure to methodically follow the instructions .

Hmmmmm....another potential issue. Both my desktop and laptop have Windows 10. The version .47 upgrade procedures only mention compatibility with Windows XP and Windows 7. I'm going to make an assumption that if it works on Win 7, it will work on Win 10. Unless someone knows differently.

dynaquest1, you should be good with Win 10 as most software than runs on Win 7 runs on Win 10. That said, I don't have firsthand experience of this on Win 10 so I hope someone who has will chime in.

I am still on .39... No issues, so why should I update? Also since Emotiva never supplied release notes for the UMC-200 - no benefit seen.

bolle , you don't have to update if you're happy with where you are. Most updates contain some fixes and some features so personally I like to stay current. That way, if I experience any issues, I know that they're in the current version and not have to upgrade then just to confirm. YMMV...

My post was more meant as an answer to the OP, not a question. Looks like I got it wrong...

Thanks for the inputs. Think I'm going to stick with version .41....which seems to have been a factory installed upgrade to .39. Maybe it fixed most of the original issues...and contains most of what is in the version .47 post-production release. If something doesn't work, Ill pull it out and do the upgrade. You guys are Great!!

My EMC 200 drops audio sync perthe iodically. Perhaps the feed from the cable box via HDMI is not clean. Just wondered if that's a known issue. I contacted the company a while back and was suggested that I might try a firmware update. I don't own any Windows based computers. I have doubts that an update will fix this regardless. Any comments

Any comments I have the same issue coming from my Time Warner box, specifically in between commercials. I did not have this issue with my ATT box, so I’m thinking the issue was more due to the cable box itself. In my opinion the audio is not that great coming out of a cable box due to compression, and since I’m only running 2.1, I just went with the analog output, which fixed the issue. Not the optimum solution I realize if you’re into movies via cable, however my system is setup primarily for music so not as much of an issue for me.
