Hello, I just received a xpa-5 gen2 second hand and it arrived damaged. I have the option to get a refund ,but it might be worth my while to keep it. As you can see from the pics, the 1st and 2nd binding post are bent. When I removed them to see the extent of the damage, I found there was a small circuit board attached to the posts. If I had to guess, its there to ground the posts? Not sure what else it would be doing? You can clearly see the board is bent badly. Its also cracked, but none of the resisters are damaged. Also the grid of solder seems to be intact or at least mostly. I haven't tried it yet, but what are your guys thought on this? Should I give it a shot? Maybe at the very least its still good as a 3 channel amp? Thanks!

Dude...if you have the refund option, take it. Seriously. There is no reason to pay for what you got and have it arrive so badly damaged.
Really...do the refund. Period.

Yikes. I just received my new XPA-5 from Emotiva yesterday. I have not opened it yet but I think I will now.....just in case. Sorry to hear the bad news. I would definitely return it if that option is there for you.

Well, I could get the amp for a substantial discount, maybe half of what I paid. Evan if just 3 of the channels work that would be worth it....maybe? The more I look at it, I'm starting to think it might not be a big issue? Any thought on what that little circuit board does? You guys did see that I got it second hand, right? So I already got a substantial markdown.

So I already got a substantial markdown. While you COULD choose to do that, I would not...regardless of what that little board does. What happened took a 5 channel amp that will have quite solid resale value over a long period of time and rendered into one that has less capability and essentially no resale value. And...if it were to ever fail for any reason, I suspect that even if it were in warranty, Emotiva would say, "uh...what is this damage about?". If I were them, I would be skeptical. Just take the refund and save yourself headaches down the road. If you could afford a used xpa-5 in the first place, just get out of this one. You will be able to find another that will be pristine. Really... Mark

Ok, thanks guys! I just thought that if I could score this amp for $300 it might be worth it. Return started.
