I was thinking about playing around with those little hybrid tube headphone amps you find online under $100.
Would I be able to connect the headphone amp to the RCA out on my MiniX? If I read the manual right it is a fixed output. meaning I could turn the MiniX on, volume all the way down, then adjust the volume in my cans with the control on the little headphone amp?

I have the Fusion Flex amp and the Sherbourn PA 2-50 which are a slightly fancier design than the Mini amp. The output jacks are fixed on both, passing the signal along at preamp levels from whatever source is input. Give it a try.

The mini-X's line output is at the same level as the input, that is, it comes out before the mini-X's internal volume control. Yes, you can control the fixed level with the HA's volume control. I run my Onkyo C-7030 through an Unbalanced Control Freak so that the mini-X's line output can feed the LFE line inputs on my JBL SUB 550P to help my Klipsch RB-81ii's bottom end out. With the sub's level set, I can increase the UCF/decrease the mini-X's gain to enhance the sub woofer, or reverse the two to cut it back. The mini-X was a bargain!
