I purchased two Chromecast Audio out of curiosity but also because the Google Store announced their 2 for $55 sale. I almost hate to jump on the bandwagon but I agree Chromecast Audio may change the multi-room audio game a bit by challenging more expensive solutions. Setup is so well designed via the Chromecast App (Android and iOS) allowing for custom names and different groups of Chromecast Audio devices. I found it a bit more elegant than multi-room Airplay setup and use. I have to admit that before setting them up and enjoying the experience, I was confused about the terms "cast" and "casting" because one isn't actually casting audio from a device or browser but using those as remotes; the Chromecast Audio then interacts and receives streams directly from remote and local sources/servers. For example, I'll start casting an album on Google Play Music from my desktop browser and then shut down my laptop and, of course, the album continues to play. So far, I've used the CA with Google Play Music and with PLEX (to check out some high resolution tracks) and the sound is quite good via optical out to an XPA-2 Gen 2 (I've not listened to the CA's DAC/analog out). I'm eager to try a CA with the one of the Ego DACs. Spotify, Pandora, TuneIn Radio, Rhapsody and other services are CA capable on both Android and iOS with numerous more to come (like Tidal) according to rumors. There are scores of articles and forum posts covering the technical details of CAs but I'm floored at the experience these $27.50 devices deliver.

Does it support streaming to multiple rooms at the same time? Or just one room at a time?
I find that's the thing missing from most of these solutions. I've been using Airport Expresses for the same thing, but they require a computer. iTunes supports this or you can use Airfoil to sync spotify.
I get really frustrated that SpotifyConnect doesn't support multiple rooms playing the same audio.
