2 xpa-1ls and neither have power cords from emotiva ebay

Just need to vent.. how fustraighting is this??

So back on may 30th I bought what I thought was 2 brand new xpa-1L gen 1 amps from jadendesign. Though didn't realize or think to check which version it was for when I bought it.

On April 4th it comes on a Monday (here I'm waiting all weekend for it even though it was in my home town friday! :/) and I see on one of the boxes gen 2. Wow cool.. the other was just xpa1L.

So I open the gen 2 box first and yup, it looks all new. Open the other box and here there's a manual on top saying gen1 :/

Also no acessery box so no power cord! And it's obviously used.. was hoping they just needed to re box it from damage. Nope.

Contact jadedesign and she said no worries we will send you out a shipping notice today and get it out in the mail tomorrow. Then hours later I get another message saying they don't have any gen2 atm. Only 2 used gen2s that are being tested and I could either wait 24-48 hours or she can ship me a gen1 right now insted and I could just keep the gen2 amp as well.

So I said I really don't ha e room for the 3rd xpa-1L (at the time, that has changed) and I was also interested in a xsp-1 and was wondering if I could just get a better deal on that. She gave me the offer to go gen 1s and send back the gen2 and a discount on those and use it towards the xsp-1 gen2. So I accepted.

So today the other gen 1 amp comes with the xsp-1 in a xmc-1 box.. was afraid they screwed up again. Here I open the xpa1l and I could not believe it! Once agsin no power cord!!! And also no extra power cord for the other gen 1 I got last time that was promised. Also no manual.

Inside the xmc-1 box was just the xsp-1 looking new with remote and cord.. I was hoping the gen1 xpa1l cord was in there but nope.


So wow.. now I finally got my emotiva mono amps I've been listing over for the past 4+ years and I xsp-1 to pair with it thst I didn't think I could afford for another year after this and I can oly look at them!

It's friday.. opening game for the Tigers at home and I have a new audio stand to put together.. it's was all looking like one hell of a day.. over nighted cables last time for the new amps and that was a waste.

I guess things would of been different if I would of just bought straight from emotiva and bought the xpa-1s but that was never in the budget.

Flipping about to cry.. another weekend and othing.

That sucks. You should call them and ask them to send you the power cord. Also good news you can buy a pc power cord they are prtty standard - just don't get a thin one and it should work fine

Go to guitar center. Some guitar amps as well as keyboards use them as well.

No I don't think I should loose money by buying cords when they were supposed to come with thr amps unless they don't work and just for display.

Kinda busy atm trying to mod the new audio stand before the wife gets home in a couple of minutes. Gota figure out how I'm gona do it so when we leave I can pick up some bolts at the hardware store.

Just checked for another cable and I found a bunch of skinny old pc power cords and 1 large one but it has some writing on it and says 18-3 and 60c. So that's small 18 gauge wire.. prob not safe.

Ended up taking one off my cheap Yamaha reciever for the basement entertainment room. It's much thicker and a newer amp prob 2 years old.

Now the kids can't game. Either i get to use the one in the xpa1l gen 2 box that's going back that's already packed up or I hit the store for one.

Oh and nope.. no response from jadedesign. Gona make me stress about it till Monday I guess.


Btw.. my wifes first response when I told her was how outragous! What kind of company are you dealing with?? How can I argue with her. Now I get to have her remind me if I ever mention buying from emotiva again.

Eclypse, even though it is Friday. Do yourself a favor and call Emotiva today. Tell them you are very disappointed and let them take it from there. I bought an XPA-5 in January to use my E-Club 10% savings before it expired and never even opened it until two weeks ago as I waited until I found a Gen 2 XPA-2 to hook up with it for my HT overhaul. When I opened the XPA-5 box, no power cable in there. I immediately called Emotiva directly and they sent out a power cord that day. It is quite obvious the TN expansion has led to internal short comings. Right now I think that Emotiva is scrambling to find competent workers to fill the much needed newly produced jobs.

I worked in Alabama for several months at an Automotive supplier which also has a plant here in Michigan and they are a different breed. Up here when the line goes down it is all hands on deck to get the line up and running with as little down time as possible. After all, time is money. When I was in Alabama and the line went down, the workers went and sat down with newspapers and magazines or ran off to the bathroom and waited for someone else to get it going again. All of us, up north and down south were fully trained and expected to implement that training in order to keep losses down. When my team leader and I approached the group of men sitting at the table reading while we tried to get the line running and questioned as to why they weren't helping us, they responded, it wasn't their job...even though it clearly was. When the team leader challenged them to get in there and help out, three of the men went to the HR office saying we were racists from Michigan that were trying to make them work harder than they should have to. The southern management team then called the two of us into the office and questioned us as to what really went on. They came to the conclusion that we should just do the work ourselves and let them sit down. That was enough for me to know I didn't belong there. I finished out the week and gladly returned to the Michigan plant. They are indeed a different breed with different work ethics and move at a whole different pace.

Do yourself a favor and call, maybe talk to Dan Laufman himself and get things squared away. He takes pride in his company and will take care of addressing this situation.

Jadedesign sometimes has trouble getting the correct power cords into the shipping boxes. I got a XRC-2 from them on E-bay. It arrived with a power cord for an XPR amp. It was too big to fit. I called Emotiva and they sent the proper power cable out right away. I also got to keep the very thick XPR cord with the 20-amp plug. Unfortunately I do not have the XPR amp that it will fit.

Also funny you should mention getting a wrong power cord with your amp.

I just received a new cmx-2 gen 2 on amazon and it has a much skinnier power cord then the older cmx-2 gen 1 I have had for years. Now I wonder if it's the right cord or its a newer slimmer design. The older cmx-2 cord is as thick as the xpa-2 and 3 amps I have.

Yep sorry about no AC power cable. Give Emotiva a call and they'll take care of that for you. Any IEC standard power cable will in the meantime over the weekend though.

Don't see anything thst would work from online at home depot and bestbuy.. yeah right. Audio quest multi hundreds of dollars cable! Not. :/ guitar center is a long ways away and so is microcenter.

I second this idea. Guitar Center(or any pro audio center) in my town definitely has what you need if are wanting to get up and running this weekend.

Yeah there's one but it's a 45 min drive. If the Yamaha one will work at ugh volume then I could just re open the xpa-1l gen 2 amp again and use that cord.

Out at dinner right now and I'm gona slam me some much needed cold ones!

I'll say every major upgrade I did in the living room was full of drama. From the tv tv to the new speaker purchase and now the amp upgrades.

Checked online at guitsr center and they have a fender cord and it's 3-7 days shipping. So any other cable from there?

Wdit. Everything from there is not in stock and needs to be shipped.

Check any local music store. I think some mixing consoles use them also. Look at Maki or peavey mixers.
Just a thought to get you up and running.
