To me the Peachtree looks overpriced.

Peachtree Nova 150... $1,500.00... no tuner, no phono... Seems expensive. Nice, but expensive. Can't wait for you to hear the TA-100. $399.00 with 2x50 watts that sounds like twice the power. And more useful features! So sweet! Why cant we get we get a pream with bluetooth transmitter for when you want quiet listening? I would like to be able to hookup two bluetooth headphones.

This is the sort of product that speaks of the versatile (quick and nimble) type of company which is Emotiva. You, Lonnie and the boys (and girls-sorry!) have hit a sweet spot I have been trying to fill for years. Luv ya work !!

Very incisive don't you think? Reminds me of the famous "shortest letter in history". A writer to his publisher asking how his book was selling with the word "?" The response from the publisher "!"

It combines THREE components that Emotiva sells as separate boxes - A DAC, a preamplifier, and a power amplifier. I believe they used to call those things receivers.

Before their WAS such a thing as a DAC, a receiver was a Tuner / Preamp / Power Amp.

I like the isolation of multiple chassis no doubt. Many technical reasons why it is so. But in a limited space I can see the attractiveness of one chassis. An effective DAC,Preamplifier,Amplifier in one chassis would be cool. I think a Dig-a-grated would be cool. I can do without the Tuner. There is this thing called streaming with no commercials, and much more variety from your computer and such.

FLAC / ALAC / WAV are all lossless and generally sound better than the MP3, especially when bitrate is lower.

This thread is almost a year old but I thought I'd chime in. I own both Emo and Peachtree products. I've had the original Peachtree Nova, Nova 125, and now the Nova 220se. Each step up has yielded better results in all the sonic things that matter: dynamics, soundstage, imaging, resolution, etc. I love my Nova220se and its currently driving a pair of Totem Hawks in my living room. It's a sweet combo. The Hawks are tiny looking floorstanders but they deliver in the mid-30hz range and image like crazy. The ScanSpeak tweeters also deliver exceptional detail. They are metal dome tweeters which aren't my favorite, but the Peachtree has a sweet, smooth sound that keeps them in check. I actually prefer listening with the tube circuit disengaged, but its hard to tell a difference. To me the tube circuit adds a "smeared" effect to the sound. When disengaging it, the sound gets cleaner and the image sharper, but again most people can't hear much of a difference.
Downstairs I have an Emotiva system. I have the XMC-1, XPA-2 (gen 1), XPA-100 (gen 1), BasX-A500, and a Rythmik sub. This equipment is driving Aperion Verus Grand towers and center and 4 Paradigm Cinema surrounds. I've also owned an additional pair of XPA-100's that I recently sold since I preferred the XPA-2 and I have a Mini X-A100, currently not in use. Oh yeah, I also have an XDA-2 and Airmotiv 4's in my office.
I can't say enough good things about the value presented by all of this equipment from both manufacturers. My downstairs room is mostly used for TV and Movies but I do spend some time listening to 2-channel audio there when I can. The XMC-1 is as advertised for 2-channel listening, not to mention how good it is for surround processing. I love this piece of equipment. Anyone who wants a great surround processor but who still wants a great 2-channel system should get one now. I've never actually done an A/B test with the upstairs and downstairs systems. When I have time I just want to sit and listen and not move speakers all over and deal with wiring. The closest I came to an A/B test is when I first got my Totems. I loaned my Peachtree to a friend for a trial so it was gone. So I used my pair of XPA-100s and the XDA-2 as a digital preamp and hooked them up to the Totems for the first week. It sounded very good and plenty of power. The Totems were used, so they're broken in, but they aren't very efficient and like a lot of power. This system delivered. Then I got my Peachtree back. As much as liked the Emo system I preferred the Nova220 with these speakers. It was close and the Emo system was a bit more dynamic, however the Peachtree was more musical. The soundstage was more cohesive. I felt myself turning up the volume more and more where with the Emo I sometimes hard to turn it down due to some harshness. I think the main difference is the DAC. The XDA-2 is a great value, and it is very revealing but I also think it has a bit of a thinner sound than the Peachtree. If I had all the equipment together again I'd try the Emo amps hooked up to the Peachtree's pre-outs and use the Nova's preamp. That might be the best of both worlds. And, maybe one of these days I'll take the Peachtree downstairs and A/B it with the Emo system. Right now I love both. Its like having 2 flavors of your favorite ice cream.
