I have DIY subs (2ch system) that I use a Behringer inuke 6000DSP on. Initially, I ran my speakers (Dali Helicon 400) full range, crossed over the subs at 35 hz, and had 2 PEQ points from REW on the Behringer amp.
I decided to fiddle with Equalizer APO. Yes, I have room treatments and bass traps. My preamp (XSP-1) has hp/lp filters so I set them at 50 hz high and lo, removed the lp filter and PEQ settings from the Behringer (added a hp at 20 while I was at it) and ran REW on the full system. Successfully added 14 filters. Listened to the same songs pre and post. The good: less mid bloat, less sibilance and super tight focused bass. The bad: not much bass or at least not what I was used to.
I'm going to try a few things: turn up the sub amp a click or 2, different hp/lp settings, run the speakers full range again and just lp the subs, etc. I might just try to listen a bit, too, and see if I like it after some listening.
Finally, any suggestions from people who have experience with PEQ/DSP settings?
