Anyone have an opinion on these speakers? Mind you I primarily listen to metal music (Death, Black, Thrash) and Electronic (Dubstep, Electro, Trance) with some classic rock and alternative rock thrown in once in a while. Are there better "mid-fi" speakers for these genres of music in the $2,000 price range? www.cerwinvega.com/home-audio/floorstanding-speakers/xls-215.html

CERWIN VEGA goes way back for speakers that Rock for a great price. These have two 15" woofers ! Man I bet they thump ! I do not have a clue about these but the ones I remember with one 15" woofer and simple dome tweeters were not ones you would place a chair in the middle and set down for critical listening. But if you wanted to Rock and have a party they actually were the ones most would choose no matter the price. Audiophiles would thumb there nose at them but boy would they rock and fun to hear music on.

I have a couple of pairs of Infinity SM series speakers from back in the day and they still rock the house. At the time they went up against the flagship AT-15 and D-9 offerings from Cerwin Vega. If you like metal music (as do I) I would think the CW's will do the trick. To me Klipsch speakers sound a little better and are less boomy than the CW's, but overall the CW's are nice rock n roll speakers. If by chance you can get your hands on some Klipsch KLF-30's or KLF-20's they are hands down the best R&R speakers I have ever heard

If you have and like the sound for some hard hitting Metal then get what you like and do not let someone tell you that CERWIN VEGA is junk compared to there Audiophile speakers to change your mind.

I guess thats my problem. I havent heard really much of ANY speaker really apart from what I own. I have a pair of Canton CT-1000 from the 80s and a set of the Andrew Jones Pioneer stuff.

Have you done any research of speakers in the $2,000 price range ? I know it can be a be a daunting task but get out there and hear as many speakers as you can for yourself. Taking someone's opinion on speakers is only good if you have some bases to understand why they may be a good choice for you. Even then try to hear them first. There are many current speakers out there that Rock and some you can order on a trial purpose for a limited time.
Come back with some alternatives and see if others can pair you with speakers they know about could fit your needs. Take the a pair of powered monitors that are not huge floor standers like the Emotiva Stealth 8 and they can Rock. It is not always about size but say you are looking for speakers with huge woofers you can also use huge subwoofers with smaller speakers.
I am sure many here will point you to speakers to look into. Nothing wrong with that.

Back in the mid 90,s I had a pair of CV,s they had a 18" woofer, two 6" mids and of course the horn they where paired with a Carver TM25 amp, and A Sony ES AVR, totally rocked my home the low end was killer. They weighed 100 pounds apiece and let me tell you they would move on the floor with that carver. Now my wife at the time hated them she would wear ear plugs. But to me if I remember right the sound was "live" like, killer sound stage. That was my "taste" at that time in my life since I am older now mellowed out I prefer critical listening speakers.

Wow, these look amazing and pretty much check off all the boxes in what I am looking for. Thanks for the suggestion. Any input on whether I should go for a 4ohm or 8ohm model?

so what is your point in asking me if I like your pics in your post of your tube amp?. but let me retort, if you though that your post is funny, comical, or lets just say downright insulting to some of the members on this forum, lets go a little further still, asinine post? yeah I would agree with that, so yep your one asinine posting ahole...like the jack Bandit that you think you are. its people like You that gave the internet a really bad name bro. I do hope EMO deletes your profile or mine doesn't matter .now if you would like to take this a lil further personally that can be arranged...now go play lil boy..your post really aren't as impressive your so much the loser...lolo...oh you sure your not that F1nut...nut..j.o.b..dude in disguise?..sure smell umm..post like him..lol Okay, I gotta say not sure where all that came from. If you look at the pic in the tube amp thread. you'll notice that those "ugly" green speakers belong to B'zilla, my friend whose house I was at. It has a custom paint job. Here they are with some nice grills. I was trying to discretely say pssst...you may not want to call his system ugly! Also that I think they look very nice. That was the intent of my post.
