There's some others here that have an Ygdrassil or a Gungir multibit. I just forgot who they were Now one thing I do wonder is I assume yves you ran it through the UMC-200 as a preamp or did you use the digital volume control from Foobar? The UMC-200 is single ended. The ygdrassil is meant to be run fully balanced. And yes I understand the differences are small and people contend with fully balanced not making a difference - however the Ygdrassil DAC has four DAC chips in order to be run fully balanced. At least that's how I read it. Also....did you give it the ridiculous amount of warm up time needed?

I heard on Tidal Santana. I thought my actual CD sounded way better. There are three settings If you go to settings-quality-WiFi streaming only_______then select NORMAL,HIGH or HiFi Choose Hifi for optimal playback.

You will only take my Schiit out of my cold dead hands. Gumby here and I'd love to hear an Yggy. There is another on here who I will not name who has a Gumby and is waiting on Yggy to try.
To each their own. If yyves doesn't like Gumby then thats fine. I didn't like my XDA-1 so much so that I was unwilling to try XDA-2 or DC-1.
In keeping with the thread :
Tidal through Gumby rocks (w/ microRendu)

Tidal+Yggdrasil......two of my favorites! Add Roon and you have a trifecta of audio goodness. Tidal quality and selection have intoduced me to music that I had no idea existed. It's crazy how my tastes have changed the last two years. From Gary Karr to Jackie Gleason to African drums and everything in between, there was no way I would ever know about most of them and certainly wouldn't have purchased the CDs. I still can't believe I have record store in my home!
I'm coming up on a year with the Yggy......its outstanding and still amazes me,

Does it sound as good as HI RES downloads? Any drop off issues? It their offering sufficient ? How are you receiving TIDAL? What specific equipment are you using Anyone consider The ARIES HIGH END STREAMER (models Bridge or Mini Streamer) I want to know if this sounds REALLY GOOD. I have not compared it to "hi res" downloads (if you mean higher than CD quality), but to me it sounds just like CD's. Zero dropoffs from any player I have used. On offerings, I have found it mostly has what I am looking for. On occasion, I have been surprised it didn't have what I was looking for...such as one time a friend wanted to hear the first Adele album and they only had a few songs from it. More often than not, I am pleasantly surprised at what they do have. I mainly use Tidal via my Sonos units, but I have also used it via my phone, tablet, and PC. When I use my SONOS, it goes through an outboard DAC. Mark

Please keep in mind that Tidal "Hi-Fi" is 16/44, 1,411 kbps, the same as cd resolution.
That is 4x Spotify's max resolution of 320 kbps.. It's the audiophile's choice among major streaming services.
The HiFi option is $20 per month, a little more than one cd per month. And if you're a vet, you can get a 40% discount, for a net cost of $12 per month.
If they fail, just start overspending on cds again.
The best quality/cost available.

Mark I use the Tidal App on both my mac and my PC, at my PC is where my little budget headphones setup is and I love it, listened to some of the Master albums last night after the family went to sleep and it was great to just sit and listen in peace haha, the albums sound great IMO but if any difference compared to the HIFI very little, but I am using $99 Shure headphones haha, maybe someone with a better setup could tell. WHenever my system is back up and running I will move the Mac Mini back dowstairs to the main system and try out some Master albums. Chad

There are a lot more "master" albums on tidal now, more than the 200 in the Masters list. I have been streaming this new content using Roon on my headless music server (Linux). Sounds great so far. I will have to do comparisons with the hifi versions at some point. Most of the content I have streamed so far is 24/44 24/96 or 24/88.
Hopefully Tidal will make the new masters versions easier to pick out from the other versions. Right now they are all mixed together and you can't tell the difference until you play it.

All of the master files are 24/48. I think I was playing some local files through Roon that were those other sample rates...

So if you stream them from Roon, do you have an MQA capable DAC?
EDIT: Got it right the 1st time I read it; "All you need is a TIDAL HiFi membership to access thousands of master-quality albums only through the TIDAL desktop application"
