Does anyone have specs on the headphone output through the PT-100 (power output, THD, crosstalk, etc)? It's a product I'm considering and there's very little information presented on the product page. It looks like it is 1/8" jack as well, can someone confirm this for me? Thanks! (New user, read the forum rules, not sure if this belongs in this section. Please let me know if there is a better way to ask!)

Typhoons , welcome to the Emotiva forum. So glad you found us,,,,,,,how do I get out of here? I dont have the specs but someone will be along shortly to help. There are so many helpful kind friends here. Hope you'll hang out and have a good time. I really have enjoyed my TA-100, its very versatile. Ill go check and see what size the HP jack is.

novisnick Awesome, surprised how quickly you responded! I'm glad I found this forum, it looks like there is a lot of information here! On a side note, how easy is Emotiva to deal with? How's there customer service? I've never conducted business with them, though I've had friends recommend their products. Thanks for the help! Edit: Is the proper way to respond to someone in thread, via tagging them? I'm not familiar with forum etiquette.

There are so many friends here wanting to help everyone. Great group of people! Very diverse! More information then ill ever be able to absorb. Its a big family, welcome to it. Emotiva is great to deal with! They care very much about their costumers and forum members. Sometimes staff and ownership chimes in to the discussion.

I'll second the request for performance specs, or design information, on the PT-100's headphone driver. I can find analog performance specs on everything but that output. I'm just looking for basic information, like THD, crosstalk, S/N ratio, frequency response linearity, and drive capability into loads of 32 - 600 ohms. Is it using one or more commercial ICs or does it consist of discrete semiconductors? If it's just on there for casual use, that's fine and I'm sure it will satisfy many customers, but I'm looking to use this product (or an alternative) primarily for use with high quality headphones (Sennheiser, AKG, Beyer Dynamic, etc.), some of which are high impedance.

Was this ever answered? I'm interested as well.. It seems like a great piece of kit and if it plays well with HD650s AND gives me a remote for my vintage SansuI AU-919...where do I send my money?

Alternatively use a TA-100, that amp will drive any can LOL.

I believe you were asking/doubting if the PT-100 could drive your cans. I suggested the TA-100, so in case the PT-100/TA-100 integrated headphone amp isn't enough, you could use the TA-100 amp that would drive any set of cans for sure (i.e. it's like a PT-100 with an A-100 amp built in, just be careful with the volume control or better yet add a dropper resistor network for $10-$20 diy and you have pretty much an equivalent of the A-100 headphone jack). But now you have a remote unlike the Sansui or A-100 . You could also use commercial headphone droppers such as the Can Opener, etc. diyaudioheaven.wordpress.com/tutorials/power-amp-adapter/You could also add a headphone amp to the tape out of your Sansui, and add a remote volume control: www.mcmelectronics.com/product/MCM-CUSTOM-AUDIO-50-8394-/50-8394Or just use an inline volume control on your headphone cord. Lots of possibilities.

Yes 1/8".
All the headphone specs have been added to the PT, TA, and XMC pages.

8 Ohms: 23 mW / channel 33 Ohms: 90 mW / channel 47 Ohms: 127 mW / channel 150 Ohms: 145 mW / channel 300 Ohms: 114 mW / channel 600 Ohms: 75 mW / channel This shows that this design can provide 114 mw to the HD600 which is 300 ohm. That's not bad and will drive them. It's more powerful than the XDA-2 which has a fraction of that. It's less than the DC-1 which has 175 mwatts at that power. The HD600 works best with more power and an Emotiva A-100 will really be more ideal (addition to the PT-100) which can provide between 440 to 1300 mwatts to it depending on the jumper settings. But the PT-100 will drive them.

Thanks for the help, you've given me many ideas! - BCC

I just wanted to comment on this even though the thread is pretty old. I have Hifiman HE-400s. I don't know the specs but it is a very good amplifier. I recently purchase the Little Dot MkII and spent some time comparing them and my slimline Marantz receiver. It's not a fair comparison as the Little Dot is a tube amp. First, there was a stark contract in the noise floor. The Emotiva is very very quiet. It is quit something since my irritation at the noise floor of everything drove me into this hobby in the first place.
The Hifimans are not incredibly difficult to drive but can absorb and use some power. It gets them louder than is safe for your hearing and stay clean at all volumes. I am sending the Little Dot back.

I did a short comparison of the PT-100 headphone out with an Objective2 headphone amp using AKG Q701s, and couldn't discern any real difference. Very low noise floor, punchy and dynamic.

Actually the Resistors are bypassed when you use the 2 jumpers for the A-100 BAS-X amplifier. If you have hard to drive headphones, this is a great answer. If you have easier to drive Headphones, any of the Emotiva Audio 3.5mm output headphones do the work just fine. Also on the A-100 you can use the amplifier for listening to headphones without using the jumpers too of course. I use my Headphones on it, and frequently on my XMC-1 to great effect.
