Hi,
I have an XMC-1 running in my livingroom on 5.1... with an Outlaw 770 amp (7x200).
I am about to add 2 speakers in my kitchen as zone 2. I plan to use the last two channels of the amp to power zone 2. (Eventually maybe I would get a 2nd amp for that with its own trigger, and move to 7.1... but it's not obvious to me where to put the last two speakers in livingroom and I don't have the $$ right now.) All of my current inputs are running through HDMI; my understanding is that I can choose a separate input for zone 2 as long as it's either a) analog or b) usb. I have usb hooked up through my computer and will get a chrome audio so I can try both. I have three questions.
First, I want to add "zone 3" in a bedroom with either two or 4 speakers. What are my options? I'm assuming that any solution would involve splitting the signal from XMC-1's zone 2 output. It would be near-required to be able to control on/off for kitchen and bedroom separately, whereas separate volume seems unlikely to be worth it. Here are a couple of ideas I would like to throw out there: a) I buy some kind of speaker selector and plug it into the outputs of the amplifier... is this a good idea, which one is a good one, and could I use just the 2x200 outputs into the speaker selector, then have on/off on any number of speakers (2,4,6,8, etc... expandable); b) in my last two amplifier outputs, I simply plug in both the kitchen speakers and the bedroom speakers; obviously I lose independent on/off then, and I'm not sure if I risk breaking stuff or causing big issues; c) the XMC-1 back panel has zone outs "Z1" and "Z2" separately and I don't know what this is... is there some better way to do this, please tell me!
Second, if I want to put a subwoofer in either zone 2 or "zone 3" then how should I hook it up? I've always used the LFE output and never had a zone 2 before... The sub would be an Outlaw LFM-1+. I know this type of thing has been answered before but I'm so confused on it. Do I split off of the zone 2 outputs, merge them to mono and run an RCA to the sub?
Third, where can I find long trigger cables (for my subs)? I need one of them to go 50 ft, having trouble finding as monoprice doesn't deal in those and amazon is confusing.
Thanks for any help!
