Well I finally got everything hooked up. The XPA 5 will not power on, I have tried known other outlets that work, looked high and low. 2 hours any idea why this would not power up? Its pretty much brand new out of the box.

Really stupid question here but is there a master power switch on the back of the unit?

And, is it plugged directly into the wall? If so, are you 100% sure the circuit is working? (As in, plug in something you know works amd make sure it does with that power...)
Is it plugged into a power strip? If so, are you 100% sure the power strip is working/switched on?
I hate to ask, but we often overlook the obvious.

Really stupid question here but is there a master power switch on the back of the unit? I have to second this question, have you made sure that the "Master Power Switch" is turned "ON". This would be located on the lower back right side of the new XPA Gen 3 series amplifiers and for the Gen 1 & 2 XPA-5 amplifiers on the upper back left. Just to ask another question, when you have the amplifier plugged in, is the power button on the front lit?

" Its pretty much brand new out of the box. " Pretty new? Something we should know that may explain the problem? Bill

Sounds like you tried other outlets that work, so if it isn't the master power switch - check the power cord that it is secure into the unit - try a different power cord - check the fuses
After that, I've got nothing.

Is it me ? or lately it seems like any one who has had the slightest problem with any Emotiva product, takes it straight to the forum, before calling customer support while using catchy titles for their posts, such as: Brand New Such and Such did do this or that,..!!!!
Why can't the thread title be: advise sought or pls help on a subject, or what ever without the DRAMA,.. seems like the titles are composed in such way to make the product, or the service sound horrible, and makes an Emotiva administrator answer the post.
This is silly, and it has to stop.
My 2 cents.

This is silly, and it has to stop. My 2 cents. I don't see any drama in the title. The fact that the unit is brand new is relevant. If the poster had purchased used he would have been attacked for purchasing a broken used unit. Can't quite win. Maybe he did call and was not satisfied (not saying this is the case, or even likely). I suppose what I am getting at is there are plenty of people that contact customer support first, have a bad experience, and DON'T make a thread on this forum. You only see the potatoes that actually make a thread without exhausting the other avenues. I have had more than my fair share of annoyances with Emotiva support and don't even make threads. Do I expect a pat on the back for it? Of course not, you take the good with the bad. I'm an Emotiva fan understanding their... reputation for customer service.

LCSeminole already summed this up.... but the conversation seems to have gotten so interesting it continues on its own anyway 1) Make sure it's plugged in. 2) Turn on the big power switch on the back. (you also might want to confirm that the rear panel STATUS LED switch is ON) The power button should now light amber. If it doesn't, then it could be a fuse, a loose power cable, or a dead outlet. (Outlets stop and circuit breakers pop - try it with a lamp.) 3) Assuming that the power button IS lit amber, push the front panel power button. The amp should come ON. The power button should light BLUE. IF IT DOESN'T HAPPEN THIS WAY then you should give us a call. Well I finally got everything hooked up. The XPA 5 will not power on, I have tried known other outlets that work, looked high and low. 2 hours any idea why this would not power up? Its pretty much brand new out of the box.
