I am trying to get the XMC-1 to remember trim level settings. I am running 2.1 'ALL STEREO' mode with the BACK's off and the CENTER off. I need the Trim, Tone, Treble Level = +10dB and the Trim, Level, Sub = +12dB. Is there any way these settings can be put into the XMC-1's memory? I have to set the trims every time I turn on the system.

If those level settings are what you use the most, You will need to make your adjustments in the setup menu. You could also set up one of the speaker presets to save those levels and switch between those presets, besides the Dirac preset. Bill

Thanks Bill,
We have found that any adjustment made in the speaker preset option (other than zero) causes other channels to be automatically lowered to random lower power levels. So in 'setup' we can not make the changes we want, just ZERO dB, then trim to what we need. We are making the changes in the setup menu as Preset 1. I do NOT use the Dirac. Every time the XMC-1 is turned 'ON', the trims have to be reset. I need these settings to stay in memory. Any other ideas?

What is your actual loudspeaker configuration?

Jim, Make sure your setup configuration has only the channels you are connected to enabled.
Using all stereo mode with only 2 channels?

Here is the current setup:
All Stereo only 2 channels with LFE 2.1
1. FRONT (4) 15" JBL's through a Emotiva two way splitter
2. SURROUND: Mid's and Tweeters through a crossover network
3. SUB MONO: SVS PB-16 Ultra
4. BACK: OFF
5. CENTER:

This sounds to me to be mostly misunderstanding regarding the terminology.
Trim levels cannot be saved. The output levels and other settings for each of the individual inputs CAN (and should be) internally backed up and also backed up to an external USB.
That's accomplished in the setup menu, not the main zone menu....

It seems to me that making the main zone trim levels persistent would be a easy firmware change. I'd even add a Persistent toggle checkbox to the menu.
For me this is most often needed for the bass and treble levels.

Thanks for all the ideas. Looks like I will just have to set the trims every time I turn on the XMC. Oh well, maybe they will change the firmware some day......
Thanks

I have the "flat" bass and treble adjustments tweaked to my needs under system EQ ......easy and there those settings are saved and remain persistent. Bill

Chuck, You know, when I first got the XMC, I missed those good ole fashion Bass and Treble controls on the front of my old machine. Now that I've lived with the XMC for over two years, I no longer miss or feel the need for that. Bill

When I had the XMC/XPA in a smaller room the settings were OK. But now in the larger room it needs help with the high end. I am 25 feet away from the speakers now. The mid and bass are great, but the high end needs help. I have set and reset the EQ to help, but I am about 10dB light above 2500Hz. So treble trim has to be used.

You should give Dirac a try

Really, for a simple 2 channel stereo system? I built the speaker system over 30 years ago and have had SAE and McIntosh driving the same set up. I am very familiar with the room which only sounds good with the XMC-1's EQ and Trims set to where I have them. The goal was to have a simple On/OFF control so my wife can run the system. Maybe next time or a firmware upgrade to the Linux operating system to fix this storage bug in the XMC-1
Thanks

Why wouldnt you give Dirac a shot, if you don't like the result then switch back. You might like the result. The whole point of Dirac is to EQ so the listening position sounds good.

Has anyone used Dirac with just stereo? I can see using it for 5.1 or 7.1, but simple stereo?

Problem solved. We changed the inputs and that will be saved on power off. Thanks to every one for the help...
