Executive Summary: The rumors are true! If you're wondering whether you should buy these for a big room, go for it! This isn't really a detailed review of how the speakers sound. 'just initial comments for now. So far, it looks like Emotiva has delivered another great product at a reasonable price. Thanks guys! Anyway, a pair of T2's found their way into my great room. Their treble & mids are more detailed than my previous not-so-cheap audiophile speakers. What speakers do you speak of? I'm considering T2s to replace my Stealth 6s. Thanks.

Really getting the itch to upgrade to these from my Focal Chorus speakers. Would it be a substantial upgrade?

I just picked up my new T2s ... they're replacing a much-loved pair of KEF 103.2 speakers. As great as the imaging, tone and smoothness of KEFs was, the T2s add deep bass extension, dynamics and incredible air and detail in the treble. There's simply no contest. I'm using them in a small living room (roughly 20 by 13) ... and they are not overpowering at all. I have them slightly over a foot from the wall and so far I'm not experiencing any pronounced bass; for whatever reason, they haven't triggered the same room resonances as the KEFs. That said, this is the first night of listening and I haven't even begun to work on determining their best placement in the room. These are simply amazing speakers.

Don't be afraid to experiment with partial port plugging if you get a bass heavy sound. I have one too close to a corner and was getting some heavy bass from that side. Rory helped me with some port plugging options and settled on a 1.5" tube surrounded with foam. Smoothed out the response very nicely. I'm really diggin' these speakers.

Really getting the itch to upgrade to these from my Focal Chorus speakers. Would it be a substantial upgrade? If you do order the T2s to compare, let me know. I've been debating between the T2s or going for a pair of Focals in the Chorus line. Which model do you currently have?

Those with questions regarding the value of upgrade over Focal’s, I have some input. My former setup included the Focal Chorus 705's (current line, not 'V') on stands, rear surrounds, and an Aria 900 CC (I realize it’s not completely fair to compare bookshelves to towers). I had intended to eventually move the 705's to side rear and add Aria 948's up front. Then I was able to listen to the T1's at our local audio shop and heard that the T2's were coming. So I told my wife that's what I wanted for my next upgrade and she surprised me for my 40th with the T2/C2 setup. Realizing bookshelves aren't quite as robust as floor standers, my observations are as follows. First the center channel: Dialogue is much cleaner, and this has been especially noticeable when viewing shows featuring actors/actresses with accents (my wife had difficulty at times with British accents on our previous setup, which is no longer a problem). We do a lot of streaming, and it’s easier (and at lower levels) to catch every word people are saying – not as much rewinding to “see what they said.” That center channel is a beast. The T2's have also been very impressive. I listen to a lot of music of all types – some streaming, some vinyl - and I have heard separation unlike I previously experienced, heard details previously missed. Horns sound crisp. I've picked up on string vibrations and solos seem alive. Bass guitar stands out. The bass extension from these speakers is outstanding - I only utilize my sub for movie viewing. It did not take much maneuvering for me to find a sweet soundstage. I am hoping to upgrade my receiver to a beefier model with preout’s and also to purchase an amplifier – I’m currently running these off a Yamaha RX-V 579, the speakers are quite efficient. If you have a local audio shop that sells this line, I encourage you to check it out and see if they will play them running off a setup similar to yours (the shop I bought from ran them off a RX-V 681 to prove I didn’t “need” an amplifier to push them). Costs: I have not heard a side by side comparison between the T2's and any Focal floor standers, but you'd be hard pressed to convince me the extra cost of the Focal’s justify any gains. Look at the specs of the T2's compared to the Chorus and Aria lines, then look at the difference in cost – the Chorus 716’s which are the lowest rung of their floorstanders costs more than the T2s/C2 combined. And there’s a full 5 year warranty. Please understand I’m not putting down Focal – I believe they are great speakers and was quite happy with them. If you’re ordering direct from the company vs. a local store there is free shipping (and they have a payment plan option if you need it). Finally, for what it’s worth, it was meaningful for me to have the opportunity to support an American company putting out a solid product line. Hope this helps!

Congrats on the cool birthday present! I find the T2/C2 combo to be stellar and just added the E2 surrounds to the mix. And we also noticed the much cleaner dialogue from the C2.

Phil77, appreciate your feedback. Pretty sure I have my Focals sold. I too will be ordering the T2/ C2 combo as soon as I have the money in hand from the sale of the Focals. I’m wondering if the B1’s will suffice for rear fill.
I’ll be running the T2’s /C2 off an XPA3 and have the rears ( whether it’s the B1’s or E2’s) run off my Denon 3012. Looking forward to getting mine..

im just about to pull the trigger on the t2's, does any one have pic's of the inner drivers, crossovers, or inside the cabinet? i would like to see the design of the driver basket, what materials was used? i like to see what things look like on the in side, is that normal? i was debating on the T2's and the chane A5.4 but ive swung to the airmotiv t2. any feed back will be appreciated

Hello. I really appreciate the review of the T2s. I am an old timer (64 yrs old) and have been into stereo and gear since my early teen age years. I have done a lot of sound work as a hobby including electronics, radio, antenna building and have build my share of speakers. Last year I began the process of updating my old 2 channel stereo set up and fortunately I discovered Emotiva. I have their basic line pre-amp, and power amp and I am so impressed with this gear!!! I still find it hard to believe that I was able to buy a quality pre amp and power amp for $700.00 delivered to my door. I only listen to music with 2 channels, I do not like the sound of a sub woofer for bass response. I prefer the old school approach where the bass response comes from just the 2 speakers. I have to use an ART equalizer to get decent bass response from my current Elac F6 towers. They are fine speakers but need help in the lower frequencies. Looks like the T2s are for me. Any comment are appreciated. Thank you.

I wonder how these would be against the klipsch KG 5.5 with dual 10" woofers , I don't find the KG's lacking in anyway and I do cross them at 80hz, but this T2 towers intrigue me .
