Well, uncompressed color (4:4:4) and Dolby Atmos via ARC would be useful long before 8K hits the street. I don't know about you Jim, but my experience with the "Audio Return Channel" has been a mixed bag of tricks, though I wish I could say treats. So while HDMI version 2.1 may be on the horizon, I can't see myself relying on a feature that doesn't consistently work, thus electing to use an outside source that runs those same on-board TV apps but better with less headache.

Anyone available to answer the price range question for the new XMC-1 HDMI board? You'd probably have to ask Emotiva that question.

Probably referencing the price of the existing boards? Has there been any word on when the board will be available?

The article references "Dolby Atmos/DTS:X", so I doubt the writer was referring to any existing boards. While I don't have first-hand insight, I'm guessing we'll be hearing something relatively soon on these upgrades.

$350 for the board seems reasonable (or at least tolerable). Any confirmation if it will be user-installable (versus requiring the unit to be shipped to Emotiva)? I know that the current HDMI 2.0 updated board also required a firmware update to 4.0... I wonder if this next HDMI board will also require a new firmware update prior to installation.
Cheers!

This is still being promoted as being available in Q1/2017: emotiva.com/xmc-1-enhancementsTherefore it should be available this week or the next one at the latest - in theory...

I hope my near-by dealer in Nashua, NH could do the update to avoid the shipping issues. I am ok either way.

Cheers! -Dave Hello Dave and welcome to the Lounge. The currently available HDMI "upgrade" board (which is also the board currently shipping with all new XMC-1 purchases) is HDMI 2.0/HDCP 2.2 compliant on one input and one output, but it does not not support HDR. So, if you're looking for something to "fully" support the new UHD Blu-ray format, this one doesn't quite get you there. The upcoming HDMI upgrade board (due soon) will be HDMI 2.0b/HDCP 2.2 compliant on all inputs and outputs and will support HDR. This is the board that most of us are eagerly awaiting. Hope this helps...

That article mentions DSD support. Is there any more info on that? The XMC already has DSD support in that it will play DSD files directly with no processing available. What "enhanced" DSD support is I can't say. Maybe double data rate DSD?

That article mentions DSD support. Is there any more info on that? As mentioned elsewhere in the article ; Quite nice when you realise the same capability is listed for the RMC-1 as well

I hope they have an update soon on availability. My 4K devices are starting to pile up and I have no way to run them thorough my XMC-1. It's really a pain...
