This future board will support HDMI 2.0a (and, of course, HDCP 2.2), and WILL support HDR10 (HDR10 is part of HDMI 2.0a) and Dolby Vision at 4k."
I am holding out for this 2nd gen upgrade board for my Gen 1 XMC-1. I have multiple 4K inputs and want everything to be handled by the XMC-1.
When is this upgrade going to be available? It's 2017 now.

We're still waiting on the availability of the new chips (and the programming for them). We currently expect this to be available early Q2 (2017). This will be servicable. Was stated otherwise first but BigDan said somewhere in these boards that they changed their mind and the board will now be user-swappable - which is especially great for us guys overseas.  joehzar: Did you read the posts in this thread? Your question is already answered there... @keithl: Any news regarding the Atmos-upgrade also? Will there be the possibility of 96kHz DIRAC with this? |

Any way to get on an ordering list for this now? I now have to plug my PS4 Pro (HDR), Xbox One S (HDR), and PC (4:4:4 Chroma) directly into the TV and switch inputs there. Such a PITA.

You are paying for the same number of inputs/output regardless if it's the existing upgrade board or the future upgrade board. The difference is the HDMI/HDCP version of the inputs/outputs. |

You forget the cost of the new chips AND the Atmos licensing, so it's going to be more. But the Atmos upgrade is a completely separate upgrade board from the HDMI board. You can buy the HDMI board and forgo the Atmos upgrade. Likely what I will do unless the Atmos upgrade has other advantages. |

About a year ago, in April there was this from Hometheaterhifi.com:
"The Emotiva XMC-1 was on display along with an upgraded HDMI board which allows the XMC-1 to support HDMI 2.0 and HDCP 2.2. This will be appreciated by anyone wanting to pass 4K video through the XMC-1. Emotiva also confirmed that they will be offering a Dolby Atmos and DTS:X upgrade for the XMC-1. The upgrade will be available late summer. The Dolby Atmos enabled XMC-1 will support speaker configurations up to 5.2.2. channels, which means support for one pair of height speakers. The Dolby Atmos upgrade will also come with another HDMI upgrade to provide support for HDMI 2.0a and HDR."
This is what I remember, even though it's now 7.2.2 or 5.2.4. I read it as the current HDMI 2.0 + HDCP 2.2 upgrade board, and the the Atmos/HDMI 2.0a HDR board, so just two upgrades.

There is the current HDMI board. Two other boards are coming....another HDMI board with ALL HDMI updated to latest specs.....and a separate Amos board. |
