Got it going. 😁. Reset password. Then reset router, turned off laptop and Xmc. Fired it up and everybody is communicating. Thanks

After reading your post i went to the Dirac portal and was unable to login myself, i too reset the password even though i had the right one and then i was able to login and access the download. I haven't been there since December 2014 so my memory was a bit foggy about the procedure. Glad to hear your up and running. Now the fun begins, it can become quite consuming in both time and energy.

In windows 10 you right click the speaker icon and choose recording device and a list should pop up. When you plug in the Emotiva mic if thats the one your using it should say cmedia usb headphone set. It may be possible your missing the drivers . If i plug in my umik 1 it shows as Umik 1 in the list. When you run the dirac program be sure to right clikc and run as administrator and once in the program you will have to provide the path to the cal file for your microphone if you are not using the EMM microphone.
How many computers are you trying to run this on. It seems like more than one . Stick with windows 10
Additional setting need to be made in the properties section for the microphone once it is recognized. you need to turn off AGC in the custom tab, on the listen tab you need to click listen to the device, turn it up under levels tab and under advance make sure both box's are check for exclusive mode. you can then click configure and choose to set up a microphone and test it there. once its working you can open dirac and it should be there.
FWIW a few people have had faulty mics but lets not go there just yet.

Thanks socketman. Finally found the mic.this process sure is finikky and has fought me every step of the way, I will run Dirac again, just getting use to these learning curves. Dirac sure is a lot cleaner than preset 1. 😁 Question though. I know the instructions are fairly straight forward down the right side of the page but.......should I be adjusting the " channel volume" during my level calibrations ? Thanks again

Found the answer to my question. It was in the xmc1/Dirac manual but could not see it in the instructions on my laptop during setup . Thanks for your help. Don't go to far though. As Arnold says " I'll be back.

Andy , when you get into the pre/pro territory the level of experience needed must improve exponentially. It takes lots of reading and fussing and time but its worth it in the end. I suggest not being in too much of a hurry and also be sure to follow my suggestions/instruction especially related to agc which is automatic gain control. Start HereKeep asking questions , when you need .

Now all the fun starts!! Enjoy what you have now, then save your current file and run it again with different mic positions. I have run it at least a dozen times in my room with different settings. Play with it, you will be able to get your room sounding just the way you want.

Andy , your a bit late to the first party. Me on the other hand , i had the advantage of reading and learning from others while i waited for my XMC to arrive. Ansat was a huge help as everyone was getting Dirac Live around the same time and we all went through the process together. If you are interested i have a calibrated mic file for the EMM1. I bought an extra mic and had it sent to cross spectrum for a full calibration, the file available from me or it can be found in one of ansats posts in his signature.

I can calibrate my mic? And I thought I was gonna run Dirac and just hang some acoustic panels. I may be in over my head.

Errrr....... The microphone itself is calibrated. When you calibrate a microphone, you don't adjust it. In fact, the process should really be called "profiling". What happens is that you measure the microphone against a standard, carefully note the differences, and save them to a file. Your software then uses this file to adjust any measurements you take with the microphone to correct for its imperfections. Our versions of the Dirac software already have the calibration file for our microphones built into the software. We have a standard file which contains the calibration information for all of our microphones, and each microphone is tested after it's built to confirm that it's within spec of the calibration file. The Dirac Live LE version that comes with the XMC-1 is designed to ONLY work with our microphone. There are other more expensive calibrated microphones available (you can pay as much as you want). Most of the more expensive ones come with their own individually measured calibration file, unlike the "batch type calibration file" we provide, and it's also possible to have one of our microphones individually calibrated (measured), although it's expensive to do so and we don't particularly recommend it. The $100 upgrade version of the Dirac software - Dirac Live Full - can be used both with the microphone we provide, and with other third party calibrated microphones. We don't especially recommend buying an expensive calibrated microphone - basically because ours is already quite good and works very well for its intended purpose. The Dirac Live FULL version of the Dirac software (the $100 upgrade) offers several extra options: - you can use it with either our microphone or any other standard calibrated microphone - it lets you use the standard Target Curve we provide or create your own Target Curve - it lets you use different Target Curves for different sets of speakers, and to adjust the frequency curtains - it offers several other controls for customizing how it works Note, however, that, if you use the standard settings, both version produce the same results (the difference is that the Full version offers more options for customizing the results). HOWEVER, as long as your room is not too bad, you've got the right idea..... All of the other stuff is optional.... I can calibrate my mic? And I thought I was gonna run Dirac and just hang some acoustic panels. I may be in over my head.

Thanks Keith good stuff you are great at expalaining stuff. As keith said, both versions will do set and forget it. But if you bought the Dirac Full then you were interested in customizing your settings to suit your personal tastes, otherwise its just a 100 bux wasted. Some of us are more anal than others , to the extent we opted for a third party microphone. Is it necessary, probably not but people will tell you extra amps arent worth it either ,to each his own . I think of my Umik1 as a better ruler, just like a cabinet maker has better tools than a framer. Run Dirac and listen to it for a while then if you want to change it you can since you have that capability.

Oh I most certainly will tinker. I cant screw anything up right ? I noticed my bass was a bit low so ill play with that. I also want to look at my results and see what I can adjust and check on reflections. I read Ansats post last night on Dirac, a bit hard to comprehend but ill get it eventually.

That was a pretty common theme around here, where did my bass go then came Dirac Full , bumpt it up.
