So I was trying to use the analog outs to route audio from my cable box (HDMI in, HDMI out) to my (separate) whole home audio system. I tried using Zone 1 Audio Output, Zone 2 Audio Output, Record Out, Record In. Nothing is working. I know the cable is good because I can use the same cable to route audio directly from my cable box no problem.
I can't see any toggle to control these ports. They are supposed to just work, no?

More information required I suspect, but the dimple answer is the RCA analogue stereo output from the cable box should go to one of the RCA analogue stereo inputs on the XMC-1. Then you simply select that input in the MC-1 menu. It is possible that you may have to turn on the analogue outputs in the cable box menu as well. Sometimes they don't output anything unless you tell them to.
Cheers Gary

Cheers Gary Well the way it's supposed to work per the manual - and a tech confirmed before I bought it - is: - A/V comes in through the HMDI input from the cable box - Internally, the XMC-1 downmixes the signal to stereo - Out comes the stereo audio via the "Zone 1 Output" (for example) For some reason this isn't happening. Many AV processors do not downmix multichannel audio. This one is supposed to and that's why I bought it.

Maybe check the setup, in the Zone 2 menu there is a list of available inputs, you need make sure that the input you are using as the source is selected. From memory, the source has to be chosen every time. From the manual, page 40; On the XMC-1, the Zone 2 Input is selected independently from the main zone. ANY input that is currently selected as the Main Zone Input can also be routed to the Zone 2 Input - by selecting follow Main. If you wish to set the Zone 2 Input to a di erent source than the main zone, you will be able to select ANALOG sources, and 2 CHANNEL PCM DIGITAl sources. you will NOT be able to select a different digital surround sound or HDMI source for the Zone 2 Input than is selected for the Main Zone.Cheers Gary

Yeah that's true of Zone 2, but not Zone 1. I guess I need to call technical support.
