I'm using a Denon D M30 bookshelf system for computer audio. The integrated amp sits perfectly on top of my desktop computer - it's about 5-6" 8.25" wide and 12 inches deep. I'm looking to replace just the integrated amp unit and thought Emotiva had something but I guess not. Are there any alternatives? Pic for reference:

I hope soon that there will be a little stack of gear from Emotiva that will surpass any little integrated. It will be the DC-1 for a DAC and analog pre along with the SP-1 for more analog inputs and phono preamp. Then two PA-1 Ice Digital mono amps of 150 watts for power. You can take a DC-1 and partner a pair of powered monitors like the Stealth or Airmotiv powered monitors and make a system far better than most other desktop speakers and integrated. Think outside the box ! Be nice if they made a little CD player to go with it.

They were brainstorming a CD player addition. emotivalounge.proboards.com/thread/28455

Yes a small all in one desktop solution would be very cool but Dan and Lonnie are die hard separates and everyone here should understand that and agree. They have shown that they can make separate pre's and amp's that shine above there price point. Like I say, a separate CD drive with or without a DAC from there ERC line would be cool. Digital out direct to a DC-1 !

Thanks for the replies. I just measured and it's actually 8.25" wide, not 5-6", and 12" deep. The DC-1 is about the same size. The sound card in the PC is the DAC in this setup. I dont play CDs in the Denon and I only stream Pandora and Spotify on the PC. I rarely play my FLAC files as I play those in another system (that includes an XMC-1). So DC-1 with Airmotiv would be over kill

I still have a Technics executive system stored away. I think it put out 35 wpc or something like that. Decent little stack for an office or bedroom.
Emotiva is supposed to be coming out with a complete executive stack including DAC/preamp and mono block amps with 150 wpc @8 ohms.
They showed it off at CES last month. The information on this desktop is at around the two minute mark

This looks like an amp & preamp in one to me, right? If so, this is exactly what I'm looking for. How did I miss that.

I got the old A-100 and was using it for that very thing before my DC-1 and powered monitors. I forgot all about it Mark. It will drive any desktop speakers as good as any of the other X series amps. I still have it and will not let go of it for a simple analog integrated amp. The price is silly !

So many of us are focused on the soon to come executive series that we often forget the available gem. This also features a very nice headphone amp based on what I have read from owners. A nice unit overall! I keep looking for a reason to buy one. Mark

Glad to be of service...
If you get one, let us know how it works out.

If the Emotiva unit doesn't work, Nuforce used to make an mini integrated amp called the Icon. It looks like it may have been discontinued, but you might be able to find one second hand.

Upgraditis is flaring up because of you guys As mentioned I use the sound card in my PC as the DAC: 3.5mm out >> 3.5mm/RCA converter plug >> RCA coax cables >> integrated amp. I'm thinking to get an external USB DAC in place of the sound card. This is a simple setup so with keeping the cost low I am looking at the Schiit Modi 2 ($100) to use with the Emotiva A-100 amp ($230). Since I will only be streaming pandora and spotify I think this is more than enough...but what about the Modi 2 Uber for $50 or the Modi Multibit for $150 more OR if I build a shelf I can scrap it all and get the Emotiva TA-100 - but I only will need one input so I'd rather not pay for inputs I dont need and put that else where.

I haven't heard any of the schiit stuff, but you can't go wrong with the A-100 and a little ego/big ego DAC from Emotiva. I use that myself and the sound is excellent. emotiva.com/products/emotiva/dacs-0

That would be one reason for me to upgrade from the PC sound card that only has 3.5mm out.

First off, if you're streaming something like Spotify or Pandora, then your source is definitely going to be a limiting factor (both use medium-quality lossy compression). That said, while I'm not especially fond of 1/8" stereo jacks mechanically, they don't sound any different than RCA connectors. The reason to use an Ego DAC instead of the sound card in your computer is because it sounds so much better. Those little DC-1 sized ICEpower monoblocks are definitely still on the way. I don't have a date yet... but a guess would be some time around mid-year. And, yes, a DC-1 paired with a pair of Airmotiv powered monotors works very well for a desktop system (and I wouldn't even think of it as all that odd). I hope soon that there will be a little stack of gear from Emotiva that will surpass any little integrated.
